How to Take Photos While Capturing Videos with Galaxy Nexus

Whatever you say about the quality of the camera found on the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, but it cannot be denied that Google has added a ton of useful features to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich that make it enjoyable to use. There are also some lesser-known features than the advertised ones, like Panoramic Mode, and it’s baked into a variety of ways to tailor your content to your liking. As pointed out by a user, such a feature redditIt is the ability to take photos while shooting video.

Yes, it doesn’t sound like much, but those of you with a passion for photography will probably appreciate this hidden gem.

Therefore, the process of taking pictures while shooting video on your Galaxy Nexus is extremely simple. All you have to do is open your device’s Camera, put that Camera in video mode and touch the screen while shooting video.

Your Galaxy Nexus should show a red box around the viewfinder, and if that’s the case, you should have a still image of everything you’re shooting waiting for you in your Gallery.

The best part is, it doesn’t interrupt your video while you shoot.

Frankly, you lack the few options you get when taking a regular photo. You can’t adjust the focus and get extremely fast snapshots, but that doesn’t stop it from being extremely useful.

At the moment we are not sure if this is available via ICS or if it is a Galaxy Nexus feature. A Nexus S owner says he has Android 4.0 but can’t do it, so at this point we’ll assume it’s just another little goodie that Google and Samsung have put in the Nexus.
