How to Sync Apple Calendar with Alexa

If you’re using Amazon’s smart speakers, you’ll be happy to know that you can now sync your iCloud calendar with Alexa. Initially, you could only sync Google and Microsoft’s calendar with Alexa, so the new feature is a huge relief for folks who depend on Apple’s ecosystem and depend on iCloud for everything. One of my favorite things about Alexa is that I can easily add events to my calendar and be reminded of them without even raising my hand. Now even hardcore Apple users will be able to enjoy these features without any hassle. However, there are a few more steps before you can start the sync feature.

Apple always takes its security game very seriously. To ensure a high level of security, Apple does not allow users to sign in to third-party apps using their main Apple ID and password. Instead, users can generate app-specific passwords to log into third-party apps. Therefore, when logging into the iCloud calendar within the Alexa App, you will notice that it asks for an app-specific password, not your iCloud password. So, before syncing our iCloud calendar in Alexa app, generate required application-specific passwords. If you don’t know how, follow the steps to get your app specific password.

Generating Application-Specific Passwords

To create an app-specific password, you must first enable two-factor authentication on your iCloud account.

  1. Visit the official Apple ID Website and login with your credentials. Scroll down until you find”SecurityClick ” and “enable two factor authentication“.
  2. Now select the correct country code and phone number.

4. After enabling two-factor authentication, click “Security“options, there is a choice create application-specific passwords. Click on it and follow the steps.

5. Click “Create Password” and a pop-up window will appear asking you to enter a password. password tag. Don’t worry, it’s just a way to remember what password you used for which app. You can write anything you like. I named it Alexa for obvious reasons. hit “To create“After you’re done.

6. You will see that automatically generates a 16-character password for you. You can create and store 25 passwords at a time. Remember not to use the same password for two different apps because it won’t work. Click “Edit” to manage your passwords. button in the upper right corner. Here you can delete application-specific passwords. Deleting a password will revoke access to that app and log you out.

Sync iCloud Calendar with Alexa App

Make sure you already have the Alexa app installed on your iPhone and paired your Amazon smart speaker with it. If you haven’t, please do so first. Now, open Alexa app and tap the hamburger menu. there is Settings->Calendar and you will find an option to link your Apple iCloud calendar.

After tapping the Apple iCloud option, the app will guide you through the app-specific password creation process. However, we’ve already done that, so just press the “Go on” until you see the login page.

On the login page, your Apple ID and application specific password We’ve created it before to allow Alexa to access your iCloud calendar. That’s it, as soon as you sign in, Alexa will have access to your iCloud calendar.
