You notice that although the video title is in your native language, it was not prepared by the YouTuber, but YouTube automatically translates the video title.
While YouTube is trying its best to make things easier for its users, it sometimes messes up when translating titles. And not everyone likes automatic translation, which is often non-standard. Some people speak more than one language and original titles are fine.
In this article, we will tell you how to stop YouTube from translating video titles.
Why Does YouTube Translate Video Titles?
There can be many reasons for the same thing. This may be because you selected a different country or language on YouTube that you don’t understand. Similarly, sometimes device language and VPN also affect YouTube language.
Let’s see how to disable automatic translation of YouTube video titles.
1. Change YouTube Country
YouTube provides locales to change the default country. Country setting is not tied to your Google account. That is, if you have set up United States on the computer, the situation may be different on your phone. So, check it on all devices. To do this, follow these steps:
Change YouTube Country on Computer
Stage 1: Launch the YouTube website and login to your account.
step 2: Click on the profile picture icon at the top. Select Location from the menu.
Stage 3: Choose the United States, the United Kingdom, or a country whose language you understand well.
Step 4: Close your browser and then open it. Hopefully, the titles will now appear in their original language.
Change YouTube Country on Android
Stage 1: Open the app and tap the profile picture icon.
Step 2: Go to Settings and then General.
Stage 3: Tap on the location and change it.
Change YouTube Country on iOS (iPhone and iPad)
Stage 1: Open the app and press the profile picture icon.
Step 2: Tap Settings, then Location. Change.
2. Change YouTube Language
Have you cleared your browser cache on your computer recently? This may have changed the language of YouTube. To fix this, open the YouTube website and click on your image icon at the top. Select Language from the menu. Choose a language you understand. When you change this, you will notice that the content language of the entire site has changed.

You don’t have a language option in the YouTube mobile apps (Android and iOS). This is because the app depends on the language set on your phone. Therefore, you need to change it as shown in the next section.
3. Change Device Language
I know it’s okay to change the device language for YouTube only. But if the video titles bother you too much, add more than one language you know in your device language.
Here are the steps for Android and iOS.
Change Phone Language on Android
Stage 1: Open settings. Tap on System or General management depending on the option available on your phone.
step 2: Tap on Language and input, and then tap on Languages.
Stage 3: Tap Add language to add a new language you know. You should also reorder the languages in your preferred order.
Change Language on iPhone and iPad
Stage 1: Open the Settings app and tap on General.
Step 2: Scroll down and tap Language & Region.
Stage 3: Tap on iPhone Language. Choose what you understand. Tap on Done.
Step 4: Go back and tap Edit at the top. If you have selected multiple languages, change the order of these languages by keeping your preferred option at the top. Tap on Done to save the changes.
4. Change Language for Google Products
Stage 1: Open your Google account settings by visiting https://myaccount.google.com/.
Step 2: Click Data and personalization on the left.
Stage 3: Scroll down and click Language under General preferences for web.

Step 4: Add any languages you know by clicking Add another language. Make sure you keep the language you know well as your default language.

5. Disable VPN
If you’re using a VPN, your location may look different from YouTube and that’s why you’ll see different titles. So, try disabling the VPN for a while and see if YouTube stops automatically translating video titles.
