Facebook has launched a new notification system for groups that alerts users when people comment on the best post in a Facebook Group. Even if you limit Facebook notifications to Friends’ Posts, group members will still see these new comment notifications on the web and on iPhone or Android. Here’s how to turn off Facebook notifications for comments on the best post in a group.
Facebook groups are a great way to stay up to date with local events or connect with others in your field or hobby. Still, most of us don’t need another Facebook notification for events that aren’t directly related to us.
This new “” notification format already messes up Notifications.
Check Facebook notifications for a comment on the best post in a group.
Unfortunately, you will have to turn off Group notifications completely for this to work. You can try a smaller step to tell Facebook you want to see fewer notifications like this. You will need to change these settings on a computer or mobile browser as Facebook notification settings are reduced in the Facebook app.
Click X.
Click on the Notifications section. Then hover your mouse over the comment on the top post in a group notification. A small X will appear to the right of the notification. Click the X, then click Show less.
Confirm that you do not want these Facebook notifications.
This will turn Highlights off and change the Facebook group notification settings to Posts from Friends. The weird thing about this message is that we received the comment from Groups about a parent post notification that was previously set to no notification.
At this point Facebook seems to be overriding user settings to send more group notifications. When you tell Facebook to show fewer notifications from a group, you’ll need to repeat this with other groups when notifications appear.
The next step is your Facebook Notification Settings. Here you can see your Facebook Group activity notification settings. This is a quick place to quickly check your Facebook Group notification settings.
Adjust your Facebook Group notification settings for more control.
If you set them to Off, you shouldn’t get any notifications, but we’ve already seen one of the comments in a parent post notification in a group where the settings show Notifications as off.
We hope that after updating these options again, Facebook will not send more notifications about random people commenting on a random post in a group.
