iOS 9 was Apple’s wake-up call to take advantage of the extra screen space on the iPad, and saw the introduction of two new features: Split-screen multitasking and Slide Over. Split-screen multitasking lets you open two apps side-by-side at the same time, while Slide Over lets you interact with another app without leaving the current app with a swipe of the screen. Both features work with a limited number of iPad models, and iPhone users weren’t even invited to the party. If you want this feature on your iPhone, I will show you Here’s how to achieve Split Screen multitasking on your iPhone:
note: This procedure requires that you have a jailbroken iPhone, so if you haven’t already, head over to our guide on how to Jailbreak iOS 10.2.
Install Gorgone from Cydia
- Open Cydia on your iPhone and click “Gorgon” in the Search tab. You don’t need to add any other custom Resource as this tweak is hosted on BigBoss repository and added by default in Cydia.
- Faucet “To organise” > “To approve“.
- Tap on “Restart SpringBoard” to complete the installation process.
Your device will reboot in a few seconds and at this point Gorgone should be successfully installed.
Next, take a moment to configure Gorgone’s settings. get over your head”Settings” > “Gorgon” and “Enable Rotation“. This allows rotations on most apps and home screens.
The second option is “Enable Lock Screen rotation” is for iOS 9 only and does not currently work on iOS 10.
How to Use Split Screen Multitasking on iPhone
In any application, swipe left from the middle right edge of the screen. This will bring up all the installed apps on your iPhone.
Tapping any of these will scroll it and gain focus. This works exactly like the iPad’s Slide Over feature. You can do interact with another app without leaving the current app. When you’re done, you can swipe back to switch to the previous app.
This is especially useful when you say you’re inside an app and need to search the web right away. You can perform a web search using Safari (or any other web browser for iPhone) without leaving the current app and quickly return to the app with a simple swipe.
By rotating your iPhone to access split screen mode landscape mode. In any application, swipe left from the middle right edge of the screen Select the app you want to open from the List to enter Slide Over mode. little touch drag bar Now you will put the applications side by side and you can use both at the same time.
Scrolling from top to bottom the white drag bar will bring back the list of installed apps.
With Exit split screen modejust swipe the app using the drag bar in the middle of both apps.
I did not encounter any errors on my Jailbroken iPhone 6 while using Gorgone. That’s the only thing that bothers me Allows rotation between all installed apps. While this may be a godsend for some, it does make some apps look terrible. We hope that in future versions we will have the option to disable rotation for some specific applications. Other than this minor issue, Gorgone is pretty solid.
If you need to temporarily disable Gorgone, click “Deactivate” or consider removing it from Cydia if you no longer need it.
