With beautiful screens, fast powerful processors and 4GB of RAM, these smartphones are as powerful as laptops from a few years ago, but software changes are keeping them from being even faster. There are several ways to improve performance with new launchers, custom software, rooting and other technical stuff, our trick is really simple. In fact, all it takes is a few tweaks to the settings. No special skills, knowledge or rooting required.
Anyone can do this. Whether it’s the Galaxy S7, your first Android phone, or a seasoned Android expert. It takes less than a minute and the difference can be very noticeable. We’re going to tweak the three settings and below is a video explaining which ones, where and what it does. The video below uses an old Galaxy S4 with an older stock Android version, but the steps are all the same.

It’s actually very easy and very logical. We’ll start by unlocking the developers menu hidden in the settings and tweaking three settings that speed up animation effects and transitions. These beautiful zoom and fade effects as you move from app to app.
This is an easy trick everyone should know and a great one to share with friends and family. It can even help performance, extend battery life, and more on an older device. Lets start.
Instructions
The first step is to access a hidden developer option in the settings on the Galaxy S7 or any device being replaced. The video above explains how, and the link below is a bit more detailed. Or keep reading.
Owners will have to start by pulling down the notification bar and selecting the gear-shaped settings button. Once in the settings go to the last panel titled and select . Then tap that box seven (7) times. This will activate the hidden developer settings menu, where we changed a few things and speeded up the Galaxy S7.
Speed up your device
With the developer menu unlocked we will have to go there and change three quick settings about halfway through the screen to speed up the Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge. Watch the video above or the screenshots below.
Go to Settings > Developer Options > and scroll down a little more than halfway to , , and . These are all set to 1x. When you increase these values (higher numbers), you will find that animations and screen transitions become extremely slow, which is not what we want. Owners may try it just for fun, but we actually turn them off or turn them off entirely.
Now you just need to lower all three of these settings in the blue box above from 1.0x to 0.5x. Now when users open apps, swipe screens or do anything, all animations and effects will be cut in half and twice as fast. The phone will instantly feel almost twice as fast and that’s because everything scrolls, flows or opens faster and with less pleasant animations.
With Android 5.1 or Android 6.0 Marshmallow, Google and manufacturers have added lots of animations or effects to open apps or windows. Even pulling down the notification bar on Galaxy S7 users will see all those little icons at the top (WiFi, Bluetooth) quick settings grow slowly and slide into place when the bar is pulled all the way down. They expand with a nice neat little animation.
Windows slowly disappears as you scroll, apps open from one corner and expand to fill the entire screen with animations and effects, all of which look neat but take extra time and battery life. Turning the above settings down to 0.5x makes it all twice as fast and can even save battery life. These animations won’t be visibly noticeable, but they’re still there.
Keeping these three settings at 0.5x will keep the Galaxy S7 looking nice and stylish without slowing it down. Some users may want to turn them off completely, as many do, and that’s perfectly fine.
