While Google Photos can still claim to dominate the top in terms of versatility and intelligence, Apple Photos has slowly but steadily come a long way. The app has introduced a few neat features like filters and a better way to hide the secret album, along with adding some key privacy-focused features like the ability to limit third-party app access. Another great plugin worth mentioning is Ranking. As the name suggests, it lets you sort images and videos in the Photos app in iOS 14 on your iPhone and iPad. If you think your photo library deserves better organization, let’s give it a shot!
Sorting Images and Videos in the Photos App in iOS 14 on iPhone/iPad
The newly introduced sorting feature allows you to organize images in three ways: Newest to oldest, Oldest to newest, and Custom sorting. You can choose the order you want, depending on what order you want your memories to appear in.
While the sorting tool is pretty simple to use, it’s slightly hidden on the shelves of various features that come in the latest iteration of iOS. That’s why I didn’t notice it at first. And I guess your story might not be so different.
- start Photos app on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Tap now. Albums tab below.
3. Next, select album choose which photos and videos you want to sort.
4. Next, tap on three horizontal dots in the upper right corner.
5. Next, select . Sort on the menu.
6. Finally, preferred sort option. As mentioned above, you have three options to choose from:
- Newest to Oldest –
- Oldest to newest-
- Special order –
That is all! The change will take effect immediately and your images will start appearing in the order you want them to be.
If you want to change the sort order of your photos, follow the steps mentioned above to return to the same menu and finally select the preferred option.
Sort Photos and Videos Perfectly on iPhone and iPad
This is how the brand new sorting feature in the Photos app works. It can play a vital role in keeping your shots in the right order. Whether you prefer to have your images perfectly organized or just want to make exploring a little easier, it will have a role to play.
Since we’re talking about iOS 14, I recommend checking out the equally cool new additions like the Photos widget, the ability to set default browser/mail, and sleep monitoring. Have any feedback or questions? Feel free to post it in the comments section below.
