How to sign up for Amazon Prime?

Amazon has announced that its annual Prime Day sales are scheduled for Monday, June 21 and Tuesday, June 22; and if you feel like it hasn’t been a year since the last event – you’re right, it isn’t. Last year, Prime Day took place on October 13 and 14, three months later than usual due to the coronavirus pandemic. But we’re back on the program this year, and as before, Amazon will be reducing prices on many of its products for Prime members.

If you’re impressed with the goodies on offer but haven’t signed up for Amazon Prime, don’t worry – Amazon makes it super easy. (As you might expect, it’s the upset salesman who makes it harder for people to become new customers.)

In addition to providing access to Prime Day discounts, Amazon has developed a number of features to entice people to sign up for its Prime service. These include: Prime Video, streaming video service; free and faster shipping on purchases (two-day delivery for many items and even same-day delivery for some); Opportunities for Whole Foods Market purchases; Amazon Music Prime audio streaming (not to be confused with more comprehensive) Amazon Music Unlimitedadditional $7.99/month for Prime members); Prime Gameincludes a free Twitch channel subscription; online photo storage; and Primary ReadingProvides access to a library of comics, books and magazines.

You can share your Prime account and all its features with another adult. And you get a 30-day free trial so you can try it (and Prime Day specials) to see if it’s available.

Here’s how to sign up.

Alongside its basic plan, Amazon offers video-only plans for students and EBT/Medicaid users.

Alongside the basic Prime plan, Amazon offers video-only plans for students and those needing government assistance.

Choose a plan

  • go https://www.amazon.com/amazonprime and click the “See More Plans” link.
  • Choose which plan you want. The basic plan lets you sign up for the service at $12.99 per month or $119 per year, which is just under $10 per month. You can also sign up for Prime Video stand-alone for $8.99 per month, but not on Prime Day.
  • If you are a student, “Are you a student?” Click on the link that asks. and sign up Prime Student. You’ll get a six-month free trial subscription, after which you’ll only have to pay $6.49 per month. You also get extra discounts like Showtime for 99 cents a month (up to one year), Amazon Music Unlimited for 99 cents a month, and a two-month trial of Kindle Unlimited.
  • If you receive government assistance or use an Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) card, You can join cheaper: $5.99 per month.
  • Is it your birthday soon? If you have a generous friend or relative, gift you a Prime membership for three months ($39) or the whole year ($119).

Create Account

  • You will need an Amazon account after you decide which plan to implement. If you don’t have it yet, you must register. Click “Try Prime” then “Create your Amazon account” and create an account with your name, email and password. We strongly recommend that you set up two-factor authentication for your account as well.
  • On the next page, Amazon will verify your account by sending what it calls an OTP (one-time password) to your email. Go to your email, copy the OTP, paste it on the Amazon page and click “Verify”.
  • You will then be asked to enter your credit or debit card information.
  • And you’re done!

We should probably mention the obvious: you can sign up for a Prime membership, enjoy a 30-day free trial, and cancel after Prime Day sales are over. But you can only do it once, and when Prime Day comes again next year, you may regret your decision.
