Each smartphone manufacturer implements its own features or adds its own modifications to the Android operating system provided on their devices. While some rely on adding minor tweaks and adding their own apps like Motorola and OnePlus, there are companies like Asus and Xiaomi that believe in completely changing the whole feel of the Android operating system. While Xiaomi is known for bringing various additions to the operating system as part of MIUI, one prominent feature is the Network Activity Meter in the status bar. The Internet is an integral part of our lives and the ability to monitor one’s connection speeds in real time is something we all crave.
What if I told you there is a way to get the same feature (or even an enhanced version) on your Android device? Sounds too good to be true? Not exactly. Here’s how you can show network speed in status bar on any Android device:

While there are other apps in the Play Store that claim to provide the same features, I found Internet Speed Meter to be the best of them all, with the simplest UI and great functionality. Still, if you want to see some alternatives, feel free to check it out. Internet Speed Meter Lite, is also available for free on the Play Store. You can’t reposition the counter in your status bar and it only shows the download speed, but it’s still one of the most accurate internet counters out there.

Enable Network Activity in Status Bar on Your Android Device
