How to Set Up Google Drive on Android TV

Google Drive hosts media files of many users and these users want to stream content directly from cloud to Android TV. While this is a great approach, the problem is that Google Drive is not available in Android TV’s Play Store. So how do you install Google Drive on Android TV? In this tutorial, we provide you with a simple guide to access your Google Drive files on Android TV. So, without further ado, let’s continue and learn the instructions.

Here we will not install Google Drive on Android TV in the traditional way, as it does not have a dedicated application for the TV platform. When I tried to install the Google Drive APK on the Android TV, it didn’t work properly as the remote navigation was stuck and scrolling didn’t work at all.

So here I will show you how to integrate Google Drive into a file explorer on Android TV. A much better way to access your Google Drive and you can use it alongside your local directory. Having said all that, let’s go through the steps now.

1. First, open Play Store on your Android TV and Install Solid Explorer (Freeoffers in-app purchases). You can also use other file managers like FX or X-plore, but Solid Explorer is a pretty good app overall.

2. Then open it and click on the hamburger menu in the upper left corner. Here click on the 3-dot menu and select “Warehouse Manager“.

3. On the next page, Choose Google Drive and click “Next”.

4. After that, enter a display name if you want and click “Next” located in the upper right corner.

5. Now, click on “Sign in to Google Drive“.

6. It will take you to your existing Google account linked to the TV. you can simply select that account or add a new account from the option below.

7. After doing this, Solid Explorer will ask for your permission to access your Google Drive files. Click “Allow”.

8. After doing this, click “Next” and review all details.

9. Finally, “Connect” and you are done. Note that you may be prompted to create a password to protect your Google Drive files in Solid Explorer. If you want an additional layer of security, you can do that.

10. Now Google Drive same hamburger menu In Solid Explorer. Open it and you can access all your Drive files from Android TV.

11. This is how your Google Drive appears in Solid Explorer. You can do create new folders and upload new itemsstream content, cut/copy/paste and all kinds of file manager operations.
