While Apple Music has it all to be a top-notch music streaming app, it lacks a built-in sleep timer. As someone who likes to fall asleep with relaxing music, the lack of a natural sleep timer feature in Apple Music confuses me. But no need to worry about the lack of this feature, let’s take a look at a workaround to set a sleep timer in Apple Music on iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac and even Windows PC.

Guess what, iOS comes with a super handy sleep timer that works not only with Apple Music but also with other music streaming apps including Spotify and YouTube Music. The Clock app for iPhone and iPad lets you set your desired sleep timer so you can fall asleep listening to your favorite music.
You can’t tag the Clock app as a native sleep timer for Apple Music, but it fills the gap with ease. This means you won’t need to install a third-party app or spend money to get the job done.
What about other devices like Mac, Windows and Android? I found nifty solutions that allow you to set a sleep timer for Apple Music on these devices. With that in mind, let’s get started!
Set a Sleep Timer for Apple Music on iPhone and iPad
- start clock app on your iPhone or iPad.
2. Tap now. Timer tab in the lower right corner of the screen.

3. Next, set time and choose ‘When Timer Ends’ choice.

4. Scroll down and ‘stop playing’ choice. Next, tap on Set in the upper right corner.

5. Tap on Start to start the sleep timer. Now you can enjoy music knowing that Apple Music will stop playing music at the stipulated time.

6. Note that you can cancel/pause the sleep timer at any time. Go to: Tap on Clock app -> Timer & Cancel/Pause.
Set a Sleep Timer for Apple Music on Android
Even though the Play Store comes with a lot of sleep timer apps, what impressed me the most Sleep Timer for Spotify and Music. Application (free with ads, offers in-app purchases) is incredibly simple to use and supports Apple Music and YouTube.
To get started, download and launch the app on your Android device. By default, the timer set to 30 minutes. You can choose to lower or extend the timer. Then tap the ‘Start’ button to start the sleep timer.

1. Start System Preferences On your Mac, navigate to: ‘Battery’ settings.
note: In macOS Catalina and earlier, you will need to select Energy Saver. I’m using macOS Catalina so I have to go to the ‘Energy Saver’ settings.
2. Next, select Calendar.

3. Next, check the box on the left. To sleep. Next, set the preferred duration. Finally, make sure you click OK to approve.

Setting up a sleep timer for Apple Music on Windows is just as simple. all you have to do is go to Settings -> System -> Power & Sleep -> Sleep. Next, set the duration and you’re ready to go.
