How to Set Sleep Timer for Music on iPhone

If you like to listen to music while falling asleep, here’s how to set the sleep timer so you don’t have to manually turn off your iPhone.

On iOS, there is no native feature in the Music app to automatically stop playing music after a certain amount of time. Fortunately, there’s a nice trick inside the Clock app that you can use.

Music can be a calming stimulant that can help you relax and fall asleep faster. Many people listen to music while falling asleep because music not only suppresses outside noise (similar to how white noise works), but can also help relax users and bring them to sleep. And when you have a pair of sleeping headphones, you’re ready for the races.

I have a beginner playlist that includes many different slower songs with acoustic or light piano music, and I’m sure you have your own playlist that works for you too.

However, if you want that playlist to automatically stop playing the music at a certain time, here’s how to set up a sleep timer on your iPhone that can automatically turn off your music after you fall asleep.

Setting a Sleep Timer for Music

If you want to get a better night’s sleep without having to manually turn it off after you’ve finished listening to your music, here’s how to set a sleep timer for your music on iPhone on iOS.

First, keep in mind that this trick works in other apps other than stock apps like Apple’s Music and Podcasts. So if you use Spotify or any other music app besides the stock one, you can still take advantage of this feature.

Now, follow these simple steps to set a sleep timer:

This will ensure that almost anything playing through your iPhone’s speakers or headphone jack is stopped and turned off. It obviously works with a variety of stock apps including Apple’s Music and Podcasts, but I’ve also tested it with Spotify and it works great.
