Google made a minor change to the Wi-Fi toggle in the Quick Settings panel with the Android 12 stable release, and the change comes as a disappointment for advanced users. The change includes combining Wi-Fi and Mobile data transitions into a single ‘Internet’ transition for simplicity’s sake. Bring Back Wi-Fi Toggle in Quick Settings on Android 12 (Updated Oct 2021)
We’ve included all the steps and instructions you need to follow to bring back Wi-Fi toggle on Android 12. Apart from the ADB method, we also described an alternative method that involves using Tasker and a few plug-in applications. Read till the end to know all about it.
What is the Problem with Wi-Fi QS Toggle on Android 12?
If you haven’t tried Android 12 yet, let me quickly explain what’s wrong with the Wi-Fi toggle on Android so we’re all on the same page. With the second Android 12 beta released earlier this month, Google combined Wi-Fi and mobile data quick settings toggles and He named it “Internet”. Here’s how it looks:
As I mentioned in our content on the best Android 12 features, implementing this Internet transition is not ideal. It takes three taps and a swipe down gesture to turn off Wi-Fi on Android 12.
To put this in perspective, you can scroll down and tap the Wi-Fi toggle button to turn off Wi-Fi in Android 11. As someone who turns off the Wi-Fi every night before bed, frankly, I didn’t like that at all. was looking for change and workarounds. That’s when I came across a new Tasker project that fixed this issue. Having said all that, let’s start with the steps.
Method 1: Use ADB to Undo Wi-Fi Passthrough on Android 12 (Easiest Method)
This method requires ADB to bring back the Wi-Fi passthrough. First as Mishaal Rahman pointed You can undo your favorite Wi-Fi and Mobile data Quick Settings toggles on Twitter with a single command. If you don’t have ADB yet, read our guide on how to install ADB on Windows, macOS, Linux or Chrome OS.
1. Open Command prompt at the root of your ADB installation. To do this, type cmd in the address bar File Explorer. If you have ADB set to run anywhere in your system’s PATH variable, you can skip this step and open a Command prompt window directly.
2. Connect your phone to your PC and allow USB debugging permission from the prompt that appears. If you haven’t enabled USB debugging yet, go to: Settings -> Developer options -> USB debugging To make sure your device is successfully connected, run the command: adb devices.
3. Now, paste the following command into Command Prompt and press Enter:
adb shell settings put secure sysui_qs_tiles "$(settings get secure sysui_qs_tiles),wifi,cell"
4. You will now see dedicated Wi-Fi and mobile data toggles on the last page of the Quick Settings panel. Press the pencil icon at the bottom of the Quick Settings panel to highlight them.
5. Press and drag the Wi-Fi and Mobile data toggles to the top. You can choose to move the “Internet” toggle button to the inactive tiles area to avoid redundancy.
6. And here you are. Now you can enjoy custom toggles for Wi-Fi and Mobile data on your Android 12 phone.
Method 2: Use Tasker Project to Undo Wi-Fi Toggle on Android 12
Before proceeding with the step-by-step process, here are all the apps and files you need to download before continuing.

If you’re a power user, you’ve probably already bought Tasker. If this is your first time hearing about it, Tasker is a powerful automation app that you can use to set rules and automate tasks on your Android phone. Tasker has been around for over 10 years, and in fact, we’ve written multiple guides in the past on using Tasker and using AutoTools with Tasker.

- Automatic Notification
After downloading Tasker, it’s time to download AutoNotification. We will use Automatic Notification for the new Wi-Fi toggle set to replace the Internet toggle. Unlike Tasker, you can download Automatic Notification for free from Play Store.

Another application required to run this setup is Tasker Settings. So what exactly are Tasker Settings? Google, starting with Android 10 stopped allowing apps to change Wi-Fi state. This applies to apps targeting API level 29 (Android 10) and higher. This is where Tasker Settings comes into play. It targets API level 21 (Android 5.0 Lollipop) as a workaround.
Long story short, Install the Tasker Settings app from GitHub to allow Tasker to change the Wi-Fi state. This is an important step and the migration will not work unless you install Tasker Settings.

How to Achieve Wi-Fi and Mobile Data Toggles Using Tasker
Once you’ve installed all three of the aforementioned apps, you’re ready to restart the Wi-Fi toggle in the Quick Settings panel in Android 12. Here’s how to do this:
1. Visit the Tasker project at: here and Tap on the green “Import” button. You will now be redirected to the Tasker app. Press “Yes” to import the project.
2. Now you will see two popups to activate the profile and run the project’s launch task. Double tap on “Yes” to go further.
3. After importing the project, Tap the checkmark in the upper right corner to apply On your Android 12 device.
4. Now that you have the project set up, you must add a new Auto Notification toggle QS tile to your QS panel. To do this, tap the pencil icon and hold and drag to add the tile. It is worth noting that you have to add Auto Notification toggle without number. At this step, you can also choose to hide the Internet QS relay to avoid redundancy.
5. You should now see the Wi-Fi toggle in the Android 12 Quick Settings panel. If you can’t see it, open Tasker and run the project again. Here it is! You now have a Wi-Fi toggle that you can use to change Wi-Fi status with a single tap.
The best part of this new Wi-Fi transition is, You can long press to access internet panel this usually occurs when you tap the Internet tile once. You can also double-tap the toggle button to access the Network & Internet page of the Settings app.
Fix Wi-Fi and Mobile Data Toggles on Android 12
This is how you can bring back the old Wi-Fi toggle on Android 12. While the luck is slim, hopefully Google will officially bring back dedicated toggles for Wi-Fi and mobile data before the final Android 12 release later this year. As the old saying goes, don’t fix it if it’s not broken. Anyway, I’m glad this workaround is available to get the dedicated Wi-Fi toggle.
