How to Reset Your Apple Music Suggestions

If you want Apple Music to know about your new music tastes, here’s how to reset your Apple Music recommendations.

When you first set up Apple Music, you went through a short process of letting Apple Music know what kind of music you like to listen to. You chose certain genres of music and some of your favorite artists.

Apple Music then took this information to feed you music you might enjoy but have probably never heard before. However, if you want to redo this process, there is an easy way to go back and reset your Apple Music recommendations.

There are a few reasons you might want to do this. One reason is that your musical tastes have simply changed. This usually doesn’t happen in a few days, but if you find yourself listening to different music a few months from now, it might be a good idea to reset your Apple Music recommendations.

Another reason you might want to reset your recommendations is if you simply flexed the process the first time you tried Apple Music, just to go to the app’s home page to check it out. We certainly don’t blame you for doing this, but you can at least go back and go straight to improve your experience with the new music streaming service.

In any case, here’s how to reset your Apple Music recommendations.

Reset Apple Music Suggestions

Resetting your Apple Music recommendations is really easy and doesn’t take much time.

Just tap the Profile icon in the top left corner and then tap . From here you can change the genres you choose, as well as the artists you choose on the next page.

To remove a genre from your suggestions, simply click on it until the icon in the circle disappears and only the word appears. The same is true for species selection.

If you want to start completely from scratch, simply tap the button at the bottom. This will delete all the genres and artists you selected, and then you can start over by selecting new genres and artists. That is all!

Of course, that’s not the only Apple Music trick you need to know. There are a few good tips that can improve the Apple Music experience for you.

For example, there are a few important things you need to know to get better Apple Music recommendations, including knowing what the “heart” button does when playing a song, and the button that says “play more like this.”

It’s also a good idea to turn off auto-renewal so you won’t be automatically charged when your 3-month free trial expires. Of course, if you plan to use Apple Music after the free trial, you can go ahead, but if you’re not sure what you’re thinking, it might be best to disable auto-renew for now.

You can also disable automatic artist tracking that happens when you add an artist to your library. When you follow artists, you can see what they’re up to in the Connect section of Apple Music, but it’s a feature that not everyone will actually use, so it’s best to disable this little setting if you’re not using Connect.

Of course, if Apple Music isn’t a great thing, you can at least turn off some of the Apple Music features and go back to using the old Music app interface. It’s not the best solution, but it definitely works.
