Firefox Quantum represents a major change in the way our favorite open source browser works, making it faster and less resource-intensive than ever before. However, while some people criticize the change as XPCOM and XUL support has fallen out of favor with WebExtensions, others who have embraced the bold new Firefox now seem to have issues with Pocket’s deep integration. The service is owned by Mozilla. So, if you’re not exactly in love with Firefox’s constant pop-ups encouraging you to start using Pocket, here’s what you need to do to disable those prompts.
note: Pocket has been part of Firefox for the past few years, but what’s changed with the introduction of Quantum is the way you remove the service from your browser.

While the aforementioned action will get rid of the Pocket button in the address bar, it won’t get rid of Pocket’s browser integration, so to achieve this you need to do the following:
Disable Firefox Quantum’s Pocket Integration

about:config
Firefox’s address bar. back then press enter‘.

page, type “mobile” To find all mobile related preferences. Double click on the “extensions.pocket.enabled” option here to change it to “False”. You will no longer have Pocket references in Firefox’s address bar and Library view.

Disable ‘Pocket Recommended’ Articles
- To disable “Pocket Recommended”, open a new tab and then gear icon in the upper right corner.
- Now only Uncheck “Mobile Recommended” option (may not be available to everyone) and Click “Done” to save your changes
note: Neither I nor any of my coworkers I talk to get the ‘Pocket Recommended’ feature on our computers, but that may be because we haven’t used Pocket in Firefox. Between us, we checked out an unlucky Windows 7 desktop and two Windows 10 laptops., the feature seems to be going through all the chats on the Mozilla Forums. So it looks like you might need to use the integrated Pocket services in your Firefox for this ‘feature’ to kick in.
