If your smartphone has a fingerprint sensor, this shouldn’t be a problem. If necessary, the other solution to recover your data when the touchpad is damaged is to use a mouse in OTG on your smartphone.

Then you only need to enter your password or draw your unlock pattern using the mouse. Once this is done you will need to disconnect your OTG mouse to connect your smartphone to your computer unless you are using a USB Hub.

Here is the procedure to follow after your smartphone is unlocked:

  • Connect your smartphone to your PC with a USB cable
  • Open Windows file explorer and then navigate to “This PC” directory
  • Unlock your smartphone
  • Check if there is an option. Mass Storage is enabled. The icon normally appears in notifications.
