Instant messaging has become an essential part of our lives as we use it to communicate with our friends, family, customers and colleagues. An instant messaging platform that has grown in popularity over the past decade is WhatsApp. It owes its rise to many features such as voice memos.
When WhatsApp launched voice memos, users could only record audio clips. However, WhatsApp has released a feature that allows users to listen to voice memos at an increasing rate over the years. Now WhatsApp allows users to preview voice memos before sending them in its latest update. This feature eliminates the fear of sending strange messages or re-recording the voice memo. Here’s how it works on various devices.
Preview WhatsApp Voice Memos on iPhone
WhatsApp’s voice memo preview feature was released on iPhone devices before rolling out to all platforms in December 2021. Here is how to access this feature on iPhone:
Stage 1: Launch WhatsApp from your iPhone’s home screen.
Step 2: Open an individual chat or group chat in the app.
Stage 3: Touch and hold the microphone icon next to the chat box, then swipe up to enable and lock hands-free recording.
Step 4: To record a new voice memo, start speaking.
Step 5: Tap the Stop button when you’re done recording.
Step 6: Tap the play icon. This triangle-shaped icon appears when you press the Stop button.
By now, you should be able to hear the recording as the suggested recipient will. Note that you can jump to different parts of the message by tapping where you want to listen. After previewing the contents of the voice memo, you can either delete the message or press send.
Preview WhatsApp Voice Memos on Android
Previewing voice memo on Android is very similar to iPhone. We’ll go through the following steps:
Stage 1: Launch Whatsapp by tapping the app icon on your Android device.
Step 2: Open an existing or new individual or group chat.
Stage 3: Scroll to the microphone icon next to the chat box and tap on it. Instead of holding it throughout your recording, you can hold and swipe up to lock the feature in place.
Step 4: Record your voice memo by speaking to your device.
Step 5: Tap the Stop button (the square button at the bottom right) to finish your recording.
Step 6: Tap the Play button to listen to your voicemail.
