PlayStation 5 is a really powerful console and it brings a lot of impressive new features. You get 4K 120FPS support, 8K support, adaptive triggers, a handy compose button for streaming, and much more. One of my favorite features of the PS5 is the ability to set custom presets. It solves the hassle of going through all the options in the games to set your preferred resolution, difficulty level and more. Also if you play most of your games at the same settings, you can adjust the game difficulty, resolution etc on PS5. Here’s how to set it up in advance.
Preset Game Difficulty, Resolution and More on PS5
PS5 lets you use presets for a number of in-game settings. While these settings will affect most games you will play on your PlayStation, there may be some games that do not offer support for certain settings, in which case these presets will not be applied to them.
In this article, we’ll take a look at using preset difficulties, resolution, FPV and TPV camera options, subtitles, and more for all your PS5 games. If you are only looking for methods to preset a particular option, you can use the table of contents below to jump directly to that section.
Preset Game Difficulty
If you’re a casual gamer like me, you probably aren’t playing on the hardest difficulty settings. So why go to the trouble of choosing an easy difficulty setting or a normal difficulty setting in every game, right?
- Go to Settings -> Saved Data and Game/Application Settings.
- Select ‘Game Presets’ and go to ‘Difficulty’.
- You can now use a preset difficulty from Easiest to Hardest.
This will apply to games that offer difficulty settings within their options. Most games offer this option, so it’s definitely something you can take advantage of.
Preset Gaming Performance Mode/Resolution Mode
If you want the best gaming experience in terms of frame rates, you should probably pre-set your PS5 to run in Performance Mode. On the other hand, if you don’t care too much about the FPS in your games but want the graphics to look as gorgeous as possible, you can use the Resolution mode.
- Go to Settings -> Saved Data and Game/Application Settings.
- Select ‘Game Presets’ and then ‘Performance Mode or Resolution Mode’.
- You can now choose between the two modes or keep everything at the ‘Game Default’ setting if you want the game to decide which setting to use on your console.
Preset First-Person and Third-Person View Settings
People who play a lot of games often have very particular preferences when it comes to inverted camera movements. If you are tired of always having to change settings in games to reverse camera movement, you can preset it by following the steps below.
- Go to Settings -> Saved Data and Game/Application Settings.
- Select ‘Game Presets’ and go to ‘First Person View’ or ‘Third Person View’.
- Here you can reverse the controls for vertical camera movement and horizontal camera movement.
Preset Subtitles and Audio Settings
Many games with single-player campaigns have subtitles to keep you up to date with the conversations. If you’re like me, you prefer to keep the subtitles on. Here’s how you can make subtitles always on in games that support them.
- Go to Settings -> Saved Data and Game/Application Settings.
- Select ‘Game Presets’ and select ‘Subtitles and Audio’.
- Change ‘Display Subtitles’ to ‘On’. Also here you can change the audio language to the setting on your console or to the original audio in-game.
Preset Game Settings on PS5 and Jump into Your Games Immediately
Now that you know how to use preset game settings on your PS5 console, I recommend adjusting them according to your preferences. That way, when you load a new game, you can dive right in without messing around with the settings and making sure the difficulty levels, subtitle settings, and more are adjusted to your preference.
