EA DICE has confirmed an open Battlefield 5 beta for September, and the beta will give everyone, not just pre-orders, a chance to try the game weeks before its official release. The beta will also help the developer squash bugs and fix performance issues.
The Battlefield 5 beta is just one of the ways to play the game before its October 19 release date. EA will not release a Battlefield 5 demo, but will offer a trial via EA Access on Xbox One and Origin Access on Windows PC. This isn’t a free demo, but it’s the next best thing.
If you don’t want to sign up for EA Access or Origin Access, there is another way to start playing Battlefield 5 early, but that will require a pre-order and a specific version of the game.
In this guide, we’ll tell you all about it and help you decide which option is best for you and your budget.
Battlefield 5 Beta
Your first chance to try out some of Battlefield 5 will arrive in September. We don’t have a specific release date, but some of the game will be released later that month on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows PC.
Like the Battlefield 1 beta before it, the Battlefield 5 beta will be an open beta, meaning anyone with a compatible console/Windows PC can join, report bugs and try out the multiplayer mode. We do not expect the beta to include single player missions.
If you want to play the Battlefield 5 beta as soon as possible, you’ll need to pre-order a copy of Battlefield 5. The beta will open a few days before for those who pre-order.

To download the Battlefield 5 trial, you must have an EA Access or Origin Access account. After signing up, you can open the EA Access app on your Xbox One or the Origin app on your PC.
Here you should see a trial section that will show Battlefield 5 when the trial goes live in October.
If you plan to play Battlefield 5 on Xbox One, you can also check the Xbox Store for a trial. Once it goes live, you should see the option to download the Free Trial in addition to purchasing the full game.
We don’t know the exact download size, but you can expect the game to most likely have 30GB or more of space.
10-Hour Battlefield 5 Trial
When the trial goes live, you can play Battlefield 5 for 10 hours. If EA doesn’t, and probably doesn’t, make an exception, you’ll lose access to the game once the 10-hour trial expires. Once the trial period is over, you will need to purchase the full version of the game.

We do not expect EA to offer a pre-boot option to EA Access or Origin Access subscribers. You will only be able to download the trial version when it goes live in October.
However, downloading the trial version acts as a pre-install for the full version of the game. If you decide to buy, you only need to download the day one patch if DICE offers one.
