How to Order Photo Prints from Your Mac

The new Photos app for Mac is great software that lets you manage and organize your photo collection, but you can also order photo prints directly from the app. Here’s how to do it.

In today’s digital world, you usually keep your photos on your computer instead of printing them out and creating a photo book. But there are times when you want to hang your photos on the wall or order prints to create a photo book, whether as a gift or as a fun coffee table book at home.

While the new Photos app for Mac basically lets you organize and manage your photo collection (no matter how large), the app also lets you purchase physical prints of photos. Never before has Apple offered something this easy to access. All you have to do is select the photos you want printed, choose a size, and then order. From there, it takes a few days to a week to get them in the mail.

Prices are also very competitive, with 4×6 prints costing just $0.12 per print. However, this will add to shipping costs, which can be a few dollars more depending on the number of prints you order.

In any case, if you want to make prints of some of the photos you’ve taken, here’s how to do it in the new Photos app on your Mac.

Ordering Prints on Your Mac

To order prints of your photos, you must first import them into the Photos app on your Mac. If you’ve already imported your photo library, you’re good to go. Otherwise, simply click and drag any photo into the Photos app window.

From there, navigate to the menu bar at the top and click on it. Click on all the photos you want to print, and then click in the upper right corner of the window.

On the next page, you will be asked to choose a print size you want your photos to be in. Again, 4×6 prints are the cheapest option at $0.12 per print, while the larger 20″ x 30″ is $17.99. Choose a size you want and click next to it.

You may get a popup saying that some photos may need to be cropped slightly to fit the print size you selected. Click to continue.

Towards the top right corner of the window you will see two checkboxes with the option to add a white border or make prints glossy (as opposed to a matte finish). Check them as you wish and then click .

On the next page, you’ll need to add a delivery address if it isn’t already in your address book. Essentially, go to the app on your Mac and find your own contact card. If your address isn’t included in it, go ahead and add it, then it should show up in the Photos app. Unfortunately, there seems to be a bug in the Photos app where if you add your address directly to the Photos app it won’t give you a text box to insert it.

At this point, go ahead and click to officially order your prints and have them shipped to your home. iTunes uses your registered credit card for purchases, so you don’t need to enter your payment information when ordering prints through the Photos app.
