How to Open 4K Video on iPhone 6s

iPhone 6s supports a new 4K video format that lets you record videos in higher resolution than the 1080P HD you’re used to saving on your iPhone.

Using the iPhone 6s 4K video option will quickly fill your iPhone with around 375MB per minute of recording. If you own a 16GB iPhone 6s, you may not want to use this option.

Here’s how you can turn on 4K recording on your iPhone 6s. If you don’t follow these steps, you will only record 1080P at 30 frames per second.

How to Open 4K Video on iPhone 6s

  1. On your iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus, go to Settings.
  2. Tap Photos & Cameras. This is half the screen.

  3. Tap on Record Video at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Tap 4K HD at 30fps to turn it on.

You can repeat this process if you want to turn off 4K video. Most users who don’t need 4K will choose 1080P at 30fps or 1080P at 60fps.

While in the Camera app you will now see the 4K icon in the right corner to let you know that you are recording 4K video.

You can edit 4K video on iPhone using iMovie. If you need to upload to YouTube, Vimeo or other services, you must verify that you can upload in 4K resolution. Some apps and services only support 1080P uploads.
