How to Move the Chrome Address Bar Down on Android

For example, running a web browser like Chrome on a large-screen smartphone can be a daunting task, especially if you try it one-handed. The biggest problem is accessing the address bar which is at the top in Chrome by default. Fortunately, Google understands the problem users are facing and naturally provided a way to push the address bar to the bottom of your screen. While the feature is available on the Dev and Canary channels, it eventually made its way to the stable Google Chrome build. So, if you are looking for how to enable this feature on your devices, read on as we show you how to move the Google Chrome address bar to the bottom of your screen.

Move Chrome Address Bar to Bottom on Android

note: I tried the following method on my LG Nexus 5X running Android Oreo 8.0.0 and Moto X Play running Android Nougat 7.1.2 and the method worked fine on both.

  • To start, open chrome on your Android device and enter the following path in the address bar:
chrome://flags

  • The Chrome flags page should now be open. Now, Tap the 3-dot menu button in the upper right corner select and “Find on page”. From here, Search for “Chrome Home”.

  • Now, under the Chrome Home section, Tap on “Default”. A dropdown menu should be dropdown. From the list of options, Choose “Enabled”.

  • After doing this, you will be prompted to restart the browser. Tap on “Restart now” To restart Google Chrome

  • And that’s it. Your address bar should now be at the bottom of your screen.

note: In some cases, changes may not occur when the application is restarted. In this case, forcing the app to stop and restart will work.
