In the past years, Samsung has kept the Galaxy Beta Program exclusive to Galaxy S models, but that has changed with the Android Pie upgrade.
The company opened its beta program to the Galaxy Note 9 in late 2018, and now Samsung has confirmed a Galaxy Note 8 Android Pie beta.
The Android 9.0/One UI beta gives Galaxy Note 8 users in select regions a chance to try the software before the official release date, which is expected to be next month.
Signing up for the Galaxy Note 8 Android Pie beta is quick and the fastest way to go official this year. Samsung will release the final version to beta testers before it starts rolling out for everyone else.
If you own a Galaxy Note 8 and want to join the Android Pie beta, here’s what you need to do.
How to Sign Up for Galaxy Note 8 Android Pie Beta
If you want to try the Android Pie update right away, you need to download it. Samsung Members application known as Samsung+ in North America. Download the app from the Galaxy Apps store or Google Play store.
If you already have Samsung Members or the Samsung+ app installed, you need to download the latest version to get Pie beta support.
Once you have downloaded the appropriate app you will want to launch it and check to see if there is a banner advertising the Galaxy Note 8 Android Pie beta.
Tap on the title and from there you will need to submit your Galaxy Beta Program application form. If the beta isn’t live in your region, you won’t see any of these options yet.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Android Pie beta is currently available in South Korea and India and may arrive in other countries later this month.
If you have a Samsung Account and meet all Samsung’s inclusion criteria, you are good to go. If you do not have a Samsung account, you must create one. Samsung’s website to progress.
After signing up, go to your device’s Settings. Once there, go to Software update > download updates to pull the software onto your device.
Beta testers are strongly advised to back up their files before downloading the software. You can use Samsung’s Smart Switch by doing so.
For apps to work properly when running beta software, prospective beta testers should also download the latest app updates.
After installing Android Pie beta on your Galaxy Note 8, you should report bugs and performance to Samsung so that its engineers can improve the software before the official release.
