For the first time, an OS X version of the iOS 8.4 jailbreak has been released. Here’s how to jailbreak iOS 8.4 on Mac right now.
Previously, iOS 8.4 jailbreak was only available on Windows, so if you wanted to jailbreak your iPhone or iPad, you had to somehow switch to a Windows computer, otherwise you’re out of luck.
But that is no longer the case, and now Mac users can join in the fun of jailbreaking with PP’s new jailbreak tool.
The iOS 8.4 jailbreak was first released just hours after the iOS 8.4 update released on June 30, making it one of the fastest jailbreaks we’ve ever seen. As with the iOS 8.3 jailbreak, TaiG is the jailbreak developer team responsible for the iOS 8.4 jailbreak.
However, this time it was PP who released a Mac jailbreak tool for iOS 8.4. If you don’t know about PP, here is another jailbreak tweak that first released an iOS 8.4 jailbreak tool but was accused of stealing from TaiG. PP also released a Mac jailbreak tool for iOS 8.1 earlier this year.
In any case, stolen or not stolen, PP’s new jailbreak tool for Mac works great and Mac users can finally jailbreak their device on iOS 8.4 without needing a Windows computer, so without further ado, here’s how to jailbreak iOS 8.4 on Mac. you can find it here.
before you start
First, you’ll want to make sure your iPhone has a clean install of iOS 8.4. To do this, back up your device and then restore it to factory settings in iTunes.
Jailbreaking a clean iPhone reduces the amount of potential problems that can occur during the jailbreak process, so it’s important that you do this. Don’t worry, you can restore all your apps and settings after jailbreak as you have backed up your iPhone.
You’ll also want to make sure Bluetooth is turned off and disconnect your Apple Watch if it’s present. Also, you need to turn off Find My iPhone and disable the passcode on your device as these can interfere with the jailbreak process.
To disable your password, go to your password to confirm and re-enter your password. To disable Find My iPhone, go to and turn it off. You must enter your Apple ID password to confirm.
Also make sure to update iTunes to the latest possible version, but keep it closed during the jailbreak process.
How to Jailbreak on iOS 8.4?
We are now ready to jailbreak your iPhone using your Mac. download PP’s jailbreak tool and install it on your Mac as you would any other app, and then open it.
Then plug in your iPhone and the tool will recognize it when plugged in. If your iPhone is already jailbroken, the tool will let you know.
Make sure you don’t check the “Install PP Helper” option because you don’t need it. Otherwise, click the big jailbreak button and proceed to the next screen, as you should have done all the prep work beforehand, but it never hurts to review the list PP provides.
Let the tool do its job. The jailbreak process takes a few minutes and your iPhone will reboot several times, but when the process is finished you will get a “Jailbreak successful” message.
From there, you can exit the jailbreak tool and then open iTunes to restore the backup you made earlier to get all your apps and settings back.
The iOS 8.4 jailbreak will likely last through the summer until Apple releases iOS 9 to the public in the fall; in which case jailbreak developers will have to work again to crack iOS 9 and develop a jailbreak for this new version.
In the meantime, enjoy your iOS 8.4 jailbreak!
