How to Jailbreak iOS 8.1.1 with TaiG

Apple released the iOS 8.1.1 update last month as a minor update for iPhone and iPad, but it also fixed the Pangu iOS 8 jailbreak. However, a new jailbreak has been released by TaiG that works with the latest update. Here’s how to jailbreak iOS 8.1.1.

iOS 8.1.1 is a minor update for newer devices, but Apple claims to have fixed many bugs and performance issues on the iPhone 4s and iPad 2, two of the earliest devices to support iOS 8.

The TaiG jailbreak currently only works for installation on Windows machines, and there’s no word on whether a Mac version will be on the way, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see it soon.

As with Pangu, TaiG is a China-based jailbreak, so the website and installation instructions are mostly in Chinese, but this how-to guide will show you the process of jailbreaking your iPhone or iPad running iOS 8.1.1.

However, if you were brave enough to install the Pangu jailbreak while it was mostly in Chinese in the past, you should be able to handle the TaiG jailbreak as well, as the installation process is pretty straightforward, but there are a few. new things to know.

Preparation

Before you actually jailbreak your iPhone or iPad, you’ll want to make sure you completely back up all the data on your device, which you can do via iTunes, and we even have a handy guide on how to do that.

Also, it’s best to install a clean version of iOS on your device before jailbreaking it, as you’re much less likely to run into any issues.

Also, if you’re not on iOS 8 yet, you’ll be killing two birds with one stone for this one. You can update to iOS 8 and install a clean version of iOS by clicking in iTunes. You’ll need to turn off Find My iPhone in Settings on your iPhone or iPad, but after that, follow the instructions and you’ll have a clean version of iOS 8 in no time.

However, depending on your internet connection speed, it may take up to an hour or two to download iOS 8, especially if you’ve been on iOS 7 for a few months, so you may need to be patient while Apple downloads the update.

After the update has finished downloading, it will begin the installation process to install a clean version of iOS 8 on your iPhone or iPad. This may take a few extra minutes, so again you need to be patient.

Before doing anything else, it is very important that you disable the passcode on your device by entering the passcode and turning it off. You also need to turn on Airplane Mode by swiping up from the bottom of your screen and tap on the airplane icon to open Control Center. Now comes the fun part. To start www.taig.com and download the jailbreaking tool by clicking where it says “V1.0.2”. When you visit the web page it should already be highlighted in blue.

then install iTunes if you haven’t already and plug your iPhone or iPad into your Windows computer. Make sure your computer and iTunes recognize the device.

Right click on the .EXE file you downloaded and save the . The TaiG jailbreak tool will launch and from there you’ll want to make sure to uncheck the second box, but keep Cydia checked and then click the green jailbreak button.

Let the jailbreak installation do its thing and a smiley will appear informing you that the process is complete. Your iOS device will reboot, but after that you can access your iPhone and launch Cydia to prepare the file system. All ok!

If you backed up your iPhone or iPad before jailbreaking and installed a clean version of iOS 8, now is the time to restore your backup. You will get back all your apps and all your settings. To do this, with your iOS device plugged in, go to iTunes and click the icon.
