Along with Loop Tracking, the Noise app is watchOS 6’s highlight. The app measures environmental sound levels with the help of microphone and exposure time. When Apple Watch detects that the decibel level has exceeded the set threshold and could damage your hearing, it alerts you with a light tap on your wrist. By default, the app notifies when the noise level exceeds 90 decibels. However, depending on your hearing health, you can choose from multiple options such as 80 or 85 decibels to stay away from noisy environments. In this guide, I will walk you through the quick steps to set up the Noise app to measure decibel levels with the Apple Watch. So let’s get started!
Note: While watchOS 6 is available on all previous-generation Apple Watches except the original Apple Watch, the Noise App will only come to the latest Apple Watch Series 5 and previous-generation Series 4 Apple Watch.
