Recently, Xiaomi announced the much anticipated MIUI 9 update for its Redmi and Mi smartphones and tablets. MIUI 9 update has been one of the most anticipated announcements and it brings tons of new features and changes. While the stable release is still a few months away, Xiaomi has released the first developer beta of MIUI 9 to beta testers. If you are one of the lucky chosen ones but confused about how to continue testing the latest MIUI update, don’t worry because we bring you our guide on the matter. How to install MIUI 9 Beta on your Xiaomi device:
note: At the time of this writing, MIUI 9 Beta is only available as Closed Beta for Mi 6 and Redmi Note 4. In the coming weeks, the Open Beta will be made available to the general public with more support. devices can also be added. However, for them, the guideline will still remain the same.
Install MIUI 9 with OTA Update
1. First, make sure you are selected as a member of MIUI Beta Team – China and log into your Xiaomi device with the same User ID. If you are not yet a member, you can check out our detailed article on how to become a MIUI 9 beta tester.
2. Now, “Updater” Tap on the app on your Mi 6 or Redmi Note 4 and tap on it. “Check for updates”. You should be getting an update for “MIUI 9 is lightning fast” version. Simply tap “Update” choice.
3. Now sit back and enjoy while the system update package downloads. After successful download, you will be prompted to restart the device. once you reboot complete, your device must have Latest MIUI 9 Beta.
Install MIUI 9 Using XiaoMiFlash on PC
note: To install MIUI 9 on your Xiaomi device using the XiaoMiFlash tool, you must have a bootloader unlocked device.
1. First, download the latest version of the app. XiaoMiFlash tool For your PC, it’s available for free at: here and install it.
2. After installing the flash tool, Turn off your Xiaomi device. Next, press Volume Down and Power button to enter together quick start mode on your device. While in fastboot mode, connect your device to your PC.
3. Now, download MIUI 9 Beta ROM file for your device hereand Extract IT.
4. After removing the ROM, Open the MiFlash toolClick and “Choose” choice. A new window will open. Here, browse to the folder where you extracted all the MIUI 9 ROM files and “Images” file.
5. Now, click on “Refresh” button. If your device is listed, you are good to go. If not, make sure the device is properly connected and fastboot drivers are installed.
6. You can also choose from the following at the bottom right: clear all save user data and clear all and lock Options. “Clear all” option will format the storage and make your device brand new. “Save user data” will only format the /system partition thus preserving your user saved content. Finally, the “clear all and lock” option will format the storage, remove all data and also lock the bootloader.
7. After finalizing your preferences, tap on it. “flash” button in the top right. MiFlash tool will continue to flash the ROM according to the options you set. You can disconnect your device when the bar next to your device turns green.
8. That’s it. restart To enjoy MIUI 9 Beta on your device
