A large part of the reason you want Microsoft’s Windows 10 operating system is the new app store and platform.
Tech reporters and analysts like to say that every new generation of PC is inspired by some new activity that users want to do. For Windows 7, users wanted a PC that was as fast as possible, yet offered modern amenities. Windows 8 buyers wanted a device that embraced modern activities like fast web browsing and using touch instead of mouse and keyboard. Others will argue that Microsoft’s new Windows 10 operating system is the perfect example of what’s wrong with this theory.
Windows 10 does very little that is completely new to computing. Instead, it’s mostly about using apps and services to give users better, more intuitive ways to do things they’ve been doing before. To get the most out of Windows 10, you need to install apps for your favorite services. You need to get some games to take advantage of Xbox Live integration.
Here’s how to install apps and games in Windows 10.

Loading apps
Microsoft’s Windows 8 operating system got some things wrong. One of the things that got right was the Windows Store. The iPhone and almost any other device has a central place where users can find secure apps that will allow them to do almost anything they want.
Microsoft has not given up on this idea for Windows 10. Windows Store is back and better than before. For starters, the apps you download can run on a tablet or desktop, laptop, 2-in-1 or smartphone. Second, Microsoft added programs directly to the Windows Store; this means you no longer have to download things like iTunes and the full version of Microsoft Office from a web browser.
Please note that you need a Microsoft Account assigned to your Windows 10 device to download anything from the Windows Store. These can end with the suffix @live.com, @hotmail.com, and @outlook.com. If you’re upgrading a Windows 8 PC, have an Outlook Mail account, use Skype, or have an Xbox One, you already have a Microsoft Account.

On each app page, note the app’s reviews and prices to decide if it’s worth the download. At the bottom of each store page, you can see which platforms the app works on and which languages it supports.

When you install new apps, they automatically appear in your Start Menu or Start Screen. You can right-click on them to pin them to your Start Menu or Start Screen. If you have a touch device, you have to tap and hold to see the stabilization options.
Game Download
Installing games from Windows 10 to Windows 10 works exactly the same way, but there are other things to consider when making your choices.
First, remember that any app with the Xbox Logo offers Xbox Live achievements. These achievements are synced to your Xbox Live profile.
Note the game rating and in-app purchases on each game page. You also want to look at the rating of the game. Microsoft now requires game developers to submit a rating before their games enter the Windows Store. This allows you to determine if the game is suitable for you and your family.
Scroll to the bottom of the game page to note how big it is, who it’s suitable for, and on what devices it will work. Unfortunately, Microsoft has no indication as to whether a game specifically supports the Xbox One controller.
What You Need to Know About the Windows Store and More
Many Windows 10 games and apps are completely free. Others will cost you money via direct purchase or in-app purchase. Most of the time, your data is synced between these apps. Any app or game you purchase can be installed on up to 10 computers linked to your Microsoft Account.
Good luck on Windows 10.
