If you don’t want to unfriend a Facebook friend but don’t want them to see your future posts, here’s how to hide posts from specific Facebook friends.
Facebook is a great place to share your latest experiences with the people who matter most to you, including your friends, family and even acquaintances. While you can totally choose who’s on Facebook (and set privacy levels as well as what your friends can and cannot see), sometimes you need to be friends with someone you really don’t want to be friends with.
But why? Well, it could be about not wanting to offend someone. If your aunt likes to use Facebook and sends you a friend request, it may seem a little awkward if you ignore her request the next time you see her.
Also, if you’re currently Facebook friends with someone, a red flag may be raised for the person you’re not friends with. While they won’t get any notifications or anything, many Facebook users are so impressed with having as many friends as possible that they’ll definitely notice that their friend count is down and look who it is. unfriended them. Heck, there are services that can notify you when someone unfriends you.
So, if you don’t want to cause any drama by unfriending someone or ignoring their friend request, here’s how to hide posts from certain Facebook friends you don’t really want to be Facebook friends with.
How to Hide Posts From Some Facebook Friends
In the Facebook mobile app, you have some choices about who can see your Facebook post. When you go to post something new on Faceboom, you can tap next to it and customize who can see that post.
, and you can choose options like Smart Lists or Custom Lists that you may have put together in the past. From the mobile application, you can individually select the friends you want to see your post and exclude the people you don’t want to see your stuff.
But the easiest option is to do the opposite and select only your Facebook friends that you don’t want to see your Facebook posts. But you can’t do this on the Facebook mobile app.
Instead, we’ll have to do this on the Facebook website, in the web browser on our computer.
When you open the Facebook website, navigate to where to post something and then click the button that says (it may say something else depending on your privacy settings). A drop-down menu will appear. Click to reveal more options.
From there, click on it. A new popup will appear.
You will want to enter the section called and from here, just enter the names of your Facebook friends who do not want to see your Facebook posts.
When you’re done, click on it. From now on, whenever you post something new, people you include in that list won’t be able to see what you’ve posted. Also, this custom setting will now appear as a selection option in the Facebook mobile app.
With this method, you will still be full Facebook friends with that person, but they will not see anything you send. Even if they visit your Facebook page and look at your timeline, they won’t see your posts that you’ve excluded them from. It will look like you haven’t posted anything for a while.
Of course, if you want to post something on Facebook and have all your friends see it, just click that box and select . This will allow all your Facebook friends to see your post.
