We recently wrote about how to install the new Microsoft Store on Windows 10 so that users running the old desktop operating system can also experience the new store and its modern design. And now, we have compiled another tutorial on how to get Windows 11 Paint on Windows 10. Yes, you can run the redesigned new Paint app on your Windows 10 PC. So without any delay, let’s check the instructions.

In this article, we talked about the steps to install the Windows 11 Paint application on Windows 10. I suggest you follow the guide step by step to get the new Paint app. Having said that, let’s get started.

Download MSIXBUNDLE File of Windows 11 Paint Application

1. First open this website and paste 9PCFS5B6T72H in the text area. After that, set the drop-down menu on the left of the text box to “ProductId”. Then select “Quick” from the drop-down menu to the right of the text box and press the “OK” (checkmark) button.

2. Now, you will see a long list of files on your screen. Necessary Download MSIXBUNDLE of Windows 11 Paint application. Just search for the following string and download the file. In Chrome, you need to right-click on the link and select “Save as…”. The file size is about 8 MB.

3. After downloading the file, go ahead and Download 7-Zip (free). Allows you to access and extract the MSIXBUNDLE file.

1. After installing 7-Zip, open it and find MSIXBUNDLE. Select the file and click “Eject” at the top. The files will be extracted to the same folder/drive instantly. Click “OK” on the popup that appears.

2. Next, extracted folder.

3. After that, scroll down. Here is a “…x64.msix” file. Select it and click “Extract” at the top. Another folder will be created with all the extracted files on top.

4. Paint_x64 folder.

5. Right click here “AppxManifest.xml” file and select “Edit” to open the file in Notepad.

6. Now you will need to make the changes depending on your version of Windows 10. To check the version number, open Windows Settings and go to System -> About. Here, note Operating System Structure.

7. Go back to the Notepad file and click “MinVersion” with 10.0.XXXXX.XX (Replace X with your build number). For example – my OS is 19043.28 so I changed 10.0.19043.28. Now save and close the Notepad file.

8. After the changes are made, delete the following files and folders in the same x64 folder. You can click on the “Delete” option at the top. You can now close 7-Zip.

1. Now that you have replaced the MSIXBUNDLE file of the new Paint application, let’s install the Windows 11 Paint application on Windows 10. Press the Windows key once and search for “developer”. Next, “Developer settings” from search results.

2. Here, open developer mode Using the “Install apps from any source, including loose files” toggle. Select “Yes” at the next prompt.

3. After that press the Windows key again and power shield. On the search results screen, click “Run as administrator” in the right pane.

4. Now navigate to the extracted MSIXBUNDLE folder and open the x64 folder. Here, look for the “AppxManifest.xml” file that we modified in the section above. Hold down the “Shift” key and right-click on the “AppxManifest.xml” file and select “Copy as Path“.

6. Go back to the PowerShell window and enter the following command. Be sure relocate filepath with the path you copied in the step above. Right click on the PowerShell window and the path will be appended to the end of the command. Finally press Enter.

7. Now, Open the Start Menuand you will see the new Windows 11 Paint app installed on your Windows 10 PC. You can use both old and new Paint app on your Windows 10 computer because the package name is different. Enjoy!

New Windows 11 Paint vs Classic Windows 10 Paint

So far, in my testing, I’ve found that the obvious changes in the new Windows 11 Paint app are purely visual. Labeling each button and UI element in the classic Windows 10 Paint app no tags in the new Windows 11 Paint application and it can be confusing for some users. You’ll have to guess which button does what based on the visual icons, but I’m sure users will easily get used to it after spending some time in the app.

Other than that, on the performance front, the new Paint app noticeably slower than the old classic one. And it’s on the expected lines as the new Paint app is still in preview and will need more bug fixes to make it as fast as the old one. To summarize, I like the UI changes and clean buttons in the new Paint, but for most users, the Windows 10 Paint app will remain the preferred option for now.

So you can replace the new Windows 11 Paint app and make it compatible with Windows 10. Apparently, the new Paint app is not coming to Windows 10 because the package name is different and it’s not 32-bit. Builds in MSIX package.
