WhatsApp has recently started rolling out the much anticipated payment service for both Android and iPhone users. WhatsApp Payments feature uses UPI (Unified Payments Interface) to enable users to send and receive money with ease. It’s definitely a very useful feature but the problem is that not everyone has the Payments feature yet and you can’t update the app to get it as it’s available server side. Having said that, there is a way to get WhatsApp Payments on your device:
Receive WhatsApp Payments on Android or iPhone
- Anyway, the method is simple. All you need is a friend with Payments on WhatsApp on their device.
- you can just ask your friend to send you money. After that your friend will see a popup saying you need to set up WhatsApp Payments.
- That’s it. Now all you have to do is go to WhatsApp Settings->Payments and tap on “Accept and Continue”.
- Next, you will be prompted link your bank account via your mobile number.
note: If you have already set up UPI in your bank account, your mobile number will be verified and that’s it, you will be able to send and receive money. However, if you haven’t installed the UPI, you can do it yourself here.
Set UPI in WhatsApp
- After verifying your number via SMS, Choose the bank where you have your account. Just select your bank and then the bank accounts linked to your number will appear. select account.
- Your bank account will be added later. Next, you will need to set up a UPI PIN to make a payment. you can just verify your debit card by entering the last 6 digits of your card and adding the expiration date.
- Then, a OTP will be sent to your number, then Create a 4-digit UPI PIN.
- This much. Now you can simply go to a chat, tap the Payment icon and enter the UPI PIN to send money.
