OS X 10.10 Yosemite was announced by Apple yesterday as the next version of OS X after OS X Mavericks. While Yosemite is only in beta form, it’s only available to a select number of developers and beta program testers, but right now you can get the OS X 10.10 Yosemite wallpaper and shake it up on your desktop, and we’ve even made special iPhone and iPad versions to get it. The spirit of Yosemite is with you wherever you go.
This new version of OS X comes with some nice features, including an entirely new look and feel that finally brings OS X on par with iOS 7 thanks to translucent windows and menus. Icons that mimic the iOS 7 icons, but still have some depth, so there’s still a bit of that classic OS X feel.
Additionally, OS X 10.10 Yosemite also introduces improvements to Messages, including the ability to send and receive SMS text messages (rather than just iMessages) and the ability to make and receive phone calls as long as your iPhone is nearby and can connect to your phone. Match.
OS X Yosemite also includes Handoff, a feature of AirDrop that finally adds cross-platform support between iOS and OS X, allowing users to send files via AirDrop to iOS or Mac computers.
If you want to try these features right away, you can sign up for the OS X Beta Program and get access to OS X 10.10 Yosemite at some point before the official fall release this summer, but if you’re not willing to try the beta software (and we can’t blame you), then at least using the wallpaper will take a little longer to wait. can make it bearable.
Download Wallpaper for Mac
If you want to use the OS X 10.10 Yosemite wallpaper on your own Mac, you can download the full resolution version. It stands at 5418×3048 at 300 pixels per inch, so it will look great on the Retina display of new MacBook Pros and even larger Thunderbolt displays.
The wallpaper should already be in the right aspect ratio for your Mac, and if you want to reduce its size a bit to save storage space, you can export the wallpaper to Photoshop or another photo editor and reduce its width and height to something. It is more suitable for your Mac’s display.
Download Wallpaper for iPhone
We decided to make two different versions of OS X 10.10 Yosemite wallpaper for iPhone. A version has been made for the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s with a 3:2 aspect ratio. We also made one for the iPhone 5, iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s in 16:9. We had to compress the image a bit to get the best features of the wallpaper to show up in this aspect ratio, but you’ll hardly notice the difference and it still looks great.
Download Wallpaper for iPad
If you want Yosemite wallpaper for your iPad, we have it too. We cropped the wallpaper to a square shape and reduced the size to 2048×2048 to accommodate the iPad’s Retina display.
If you have an older iPad 2 with a lower resolution screen, you can still use this wallpaper without any problems, but if it makes you feel better, you can size it up to 1024×1024 in your favorite photo editor.
OS X 10.10 Yosemite will be generally available in the fall, but Apple has yet to give a firm release date. Most likely, we will see a version close to the release window that OS X Mavericks had last year. It was released on October 22, so OS X 10.10 Yosemite will most likely be available at that time as well. By then, the iPhone 6 should have come out along with some new iPads.
