Last August, Google announced a software platform that makes it easy for developers to create their own augmented reality apps. Called ARCore, the feature is similar to Apple’s ARKit and gives uses a taste of augmented reality even without Project Tango. Since then, the search giant has announced a number of updates to the platform; one of them is ‘AR Stickers’, a feature currently only available at the moment. Pixel 2 and Pixel 2XL. However, if you don’t own any of these devices but still want AR stickers on your smartphone, here’s how you can do it:
Get AR Stickers on Your Android Smartphone with Holo App
- Holo one free AR Sticker app It came to prominence when used as promotional material for Spider-Man: Homecoming. You can jump to the Google Play Store and download the app to start. you should allow it access to your storage, camera and microphoneso give Holo those permissions and run it.
- There is three preloaded characters (Walking Dog, Blinking Mermaid, and Spider-Man), but as you can see, there’s also a lot of additional options; from zombies to genies and superheroes and animals, so you can add any number to your collection.
- When the shape you choose is downloaded in the background, it will automatically be placed in the center of your screen, but move it or make it bigger/smaller If necessary. I chose the dancing puppy and downloaded the lazy tiger and as you can see they both worked great.
Holo is pretty similar to Google’s AR Stickers in how it works, but unlike what Google offers, the virtual characters in this app cannot interact with each other or with any real-world objects. However, the stickers we tried (including the two examples mentioned above) are animated by nature, and you can even take photos or short videos of you moving, playing, dancing or gesturing, depending on the situation.
Other Apps to Get AR Stickers
While Holo is a great app to get Pixel 2’s AR Stickers-like features on your Android phone, it’s far from your only option. We tried a few other apps, but it was ‘Augment – 3D Augmented Reality’ that stood out clearly from the crowd. free on Play Store. note: Both the Holo and Augment need a gyroscope and magnetometer (e-compass) to work properly, so it’s unlikely to work on entry-level devices that don’t have these sensors.

Try AR Stickers on Your Android Device
