How to Get LG V30’s Floating Bar on Any Android Device?

While LG G series phones have always been the flagship lineup that competes with Apple’s iPhone and Samsung’s Galaxy S series smartphones, in late 2015 LG also introduced another flagship device lineup, starting with the LG V10. However, LG’s first line of V-series devices, the V10, was more about bringing experimental features to the phone than a mass-market product. For example, the LG V10 was launched with a secondary screen on the top that allows users to access a range of functionality such as quick access to apps, quick settings, notifications and more.

Fast forward two years, however, and the V series has evolved into a product that feels like a traditional flagship device rather than something that wants to make a statement. I think the LG V30 is LG’s true flagship this year and while you don’t get the experimental features like the secondary display, the phone has become a complete package overall. To satisfy the original V series customers who love the secondary display, LG has added a software feature that emulates the same function. Now, this may not sound as cool as the secondary display, but this feature does pretty much everything the secondary display does. LG called this feature “Floating Bar” and today we will show you how you can get LG V30 Floating Bar on your Android device:

While the secondary screen of the LG V10 and V20 was a nice addition, it was impractical as it was placed on the top of the device. This made accessing the secondary screen a bit difficult, and you often had to use both hands to fully utilize this feature. While the floating bar is not as impressive as the secondary screen, it is more practical because you can place it anywhere on the left or right edge of the screen and make it more accessible. Apart from that, let’s see how you can get this feature on your Android device.

1. First, “Floating Stick LG V30” application (Freewith in-app purchases) from the Play Store.

2. Now start the application. At the top of the app you will see four tabs. customize what you want to show in the floating bar. By default, you are on the Apps page. Other pages include Tools, People, and Websites. One of each page toggle at the top that enables or disables the page.

As you can see, this was a pretty easy tutorial. The app seems to work well and is easy to set up and use. While this floating bar isn’t as functional as the original on the LG V30, it does most things right. I mostly use it for quick access to some of my favorite apps since quick settings are already accessible from the quick settings panel. As for contacts and websites, I’ve rarely found a use for them. However, your need will likely be different from mine, so let us know how you plan to use this feature on your phone in the comments section below.
