Google announced the Android P Beta on stage at Google I/O today, and the next flavor of the company’s mobile operating system looks absolutely fascinating. The new Android P Developer Preview 2 is available for many devices other than Google’s Pixel series, and it brings many features. With Android P, Google has also brought an update for Pixel Launcher, which is the default launcher for all Pixel devices. Now I know many of you will want to try the new Pixel Launcher from Android P on your Android devices. So, read on as we show you how to get Android P Pixel Launcher on your Android device.
To get the new Pixel Launcher for Android P Beta, just download the .APK file from hereand install it like a regular APK file. I tried the method on my OnePlus 5T running Android Oreo 8.1 and boy, does the Pixel Launcher look great? Here are some screenshots of the new Pixel Launcher in action:
Truth be told, there is not much difference in the new Android P Pixel Launcher and what is available to users. Most are just a few visual tweaks. For example, earlier, when you had to go into the Launcher Settings, holding the screen gave you a series of options at the bottom. However, in the new Pixel Launcher the Launcher Settings list is shown in a new dialog as shown below:
Overall, the new Pixel Launcher feels fresh and fast. Also, I would like to point out that you need to install the Google Wallpapers app to use the launcher to change your launcher’s wallpaper (Free), without this the application will not work. Additionally, only the following launcher Works on devices running Android Oreo or higher (8.0+).
