So you don’t want to buy a Galaxy smartphone, but want to get some design elements of One UI on your device? Thanks to Treydav Inc, there’s now an app for that! Wanted one shadowThe app is available on the Play Store and claims to be able to completely replace an Android phone’s notification panel with a custom notification shade.
One Shade supports all Android phones running Android 5.0 Lollipop and higher and does not require root access. It works similarly to another popular Treydev app called Power Shade (download), but the design of the notification panel in One Shade heavily benefits from Samsung’s One UI design. Fortunately, it is fully customizable unlike the actual One UI notification panel.
One Shade also brings a host of extra utilities, including full color customization that allows users to color all elements of the notification shade according to their preference. It also offers Advanced Notification Options, music controls (something natively available on Android 11), Quick Reply, Bundled Notifications, custom background image, and more. The app does not require root access or even any elevated privileges to run, as it uses Android’s Accessibility Services to bring these features to compatible smartphones.
Overall, the app does what it promises and most of its features are also available in the free version, but keep in mind that it comes with some full-page popup ads. The developer offers a ‘Pro’ version that promises to eliminate ads and also offers some additional features, so if you like the app it might be worth the investment.
