Let’s start with the good news. Just because your Surface Pro 4 is failing doesn’t mean you have to replace it. What your device is experiencing is not a hardware malfunction. These issues are directly related to the drivers and firmware that Microsoft is running. The company regularly releases firmware and software updates through the Windows Update utility. The company says that someday soon Microsoft will release a fix for sleep-related issues.
Windows 10 automatically installs software and firmware updates in the background when connected to a reliable internet connection. You can manually check for software and firmware updates on your Surface Pro 4 in the app. Just look at the area.

If you’ve opened the Type Cover of your Surface Pro 4 only to find that it won’t start, all you can do is do what’s called a hard reset. Essentially, you are powering down your Surface Pro 4 and forcing it to go through the reboot process. You lose everything you were working on before putting the device to sleep.
