There are many Anthem issues and the two biggest issues right now are crashes for some users and Anthem blocking the PS4. If your PS4 isn’t working after an Anthem crash, you can still save it. This isn’t a complete fix and if this gets you playing again, then you may want to keep playing the Anthem until all is clear.
While this is not a complete fix for a bricked PS4, there is a good chance that the file structure was simply corrupted due to the PS4 unexpectedly shutting down during Anthem crashes. You can fix this by rebuilding the PS4 database from Safe Mode. suggestion coming reddit here user katcher12 says he fixed a similar issue with an older game.
How To Fix An Anthem Bricked PS4
This is how you can fix a bricked PS4 caused by Anthem crashing so you can play again.
This process is easy to do, but you will have to spend some time getting into Safe Mode and waiting for the process to complete. You have to make sure you don’t select startup which will wipe your console. If you follow these guidelines, you can return to your PS4 to play other games without losing any data or waiting for EA or Sony.
- Turn off the PS4.
- Press and hold the PS4 Power button on the console until you hear two beeps.
- Connect a PS4 controller with the USB cable when the system prompts you.
- Go to Option 5, Rebuild Database.
- This may take an hour or longer.
Wait for this process to complete and then boot the PS4 normally. This should allow you to play games on your PS4, but it won’t stop another Anthem crash that could put you back in the same position.
EA is still working on a workaround or Anthem patch to fix the issue. It’s a good idea to wait for this before returning to Anthem on PS4 and maybe even PC.
