How to Fix iOS 8.3 Jailbreak Stuck at 20% Issue

An iOS 8.3 jailbreak has finally been released, and if you’ve tried to update to iOS 8.3 and jailbreak your iPhone or iPad but run into problems, here’s how to easily fix them, including the issue where you’re stuck at 20%.

iOS 8.3 has been around for a while, but a jailbreak for the latest version of iOS will likely precede the iOS 8.4 update just around the corner.

If you’ve successfully jailbroken your iPhone or iPad today, then well done! The hard part is over and you can wait for Cydia to update before you can start using jailbreak tweaks again. However, not all users who tried to jailbreak their devices were successful.

More specifically, many users encountered an issue during the jailbreak process that caused the jailbreak tool to stay at 20% for a while and eventually encounter an issue. Of course, there is not much you can do other than restart the process and try again, but users still encounter this error every time they try and jailbreak their iPhone or iPad.

However, there is a simple fix for this. Read further to find out how to quickly and easily fix this iOS 8.3 jailbreak “stuck at 20%” issue.

If you continue to encounter this issue while trying to jailbreak your iPhone or iPad, iTunes is most likely the culprit. In fact, you may have a very recent version of iTunes.

To find out which version of iTunes you have, click on the menu bar in iTunes, and then select . iTunes 12.0.1 must be installed for the jailbreak to work properly. If you have a newer version of iTunes installed instead (such as iTunes 12.1), you’ll need to uninstall that version and install iTunes 12.0.1.

To uninstall iTunes, go to and select . Select iTunes from the drop-down list and click it. You will be guided through the uninstallation process and restart your computer once it is complete.

After rebooting, Download iTunes 12.0.1 and install it. You may have rebooted, but if not, you can now try to jailbreak your iPhone or iPad using the TaiG jailbreak tool. This time it should work.

Before jailbreaking, you’ll want to disable the passcode as well as Find My iPhone before the process. Also, it’s a good idea to turn WiFi off as we’ve heard reports of users experiencing issues when they turn WiFi off. Therefore, it is better to turn it off beforehand than to deal with the headache.

Also, if you get the “storage almost full” message after the jailbreak is complete, simply open Cydia and wait for the file system to initialize. Then this message should go after that.

One thing to note with this new jailbreak is that it doesn’t fully work with Cydia yet. There are still some updates that need to be done for Cydia to work properly with the iOS 8.3 jailbreak, but they may be coming soon. Users can access Cydia, but the tweaks will not work until Cydia Substrate is updated to support the latest version of iOS.

So while you can jailbreak now, it won’t actually work until Cydia is updated.

Another downside is that the jailbreak tool currently only works on Windows, as there is no OS X tool available yet. This means that unless you have a Windows machine, you cannot jailbreak your iPhone or iPad in OS X; this is somewhat unfortunate as most iPhone and iPad users probably have a Mac with them. from a Windows computer.

If you’re planning to jailbreak your iPhone or iPad anytime soon, it might be a good idea to update to iOS 8.3 right now, as iOS 8.4 is just around the corner. This is because once iOS 8.4 is released, users will not be able to easily update to iOS 8.3 and will most likely have to update to non-jailbreakable iOS 8.4.

You’ll be able to upgrade to iOS 8.3 when iOS 8.4 is released, but this window of opportunity will be small and it’s often too risky to take that risk as Apple closes it without warning.
