Wherever you go in the world, TikTok is all the rage these days. Content creators on the wildly popular social network are insanely good at choosing soundtracks for their funny, weird, and controversial videos. Can’t make a catchy melody out of a video? I can understand the desire to understand the details of the song or melody. Here are a few ways to identify or find songs used in the TikTok app.
If you want to listen to the entire track in repeat mode or use the same track to create your video, you must first identify the song. We are here to help.

1. Shazam
Shazam is a music recognition app that runs on Android and iOS. It also integrates directly with Siri and Assistant. Just download the app, create and set up a free account.
Play this awesome TikTok video on speaker or another smartphone and run Shazam to identify the song used in the video. Shazam will record the audio, compare it to the database, do some magic and tell you everything you need to know. This includes the name of the song, artist, and album, among other details.
Once Shazam finds the song used in the TikTok video, you can open it directly in the Apple Music or Spotify music streaming app.
If it can’t recognize the song, I suggest you try it at least one more time. It could be that the first time did not record well, or that it was too late to hit the Shazam button, or even you are facing a poor internet connection.
Apple recently acquired Shazam and some improvements have been made to the service. It is free to use with no in-app purchases.
2. SoundHound
SoundHound entered the music recognition game late but quickly made a name for itself. This is because it is very quick at finding songs playing around it, including those once used in TikTok videos. The process remains the same. Play the song or TikTok video and save it to SoundHound.
The app will not only find the TikTok song, but will also display its video and lyrics at the bottom of the screen. The lyrics will be highlighted in real time while the song is playing. Like Shazam, all your recent TikTok song discoveries will be saved in your account for future reference.
SoundHound works with Spotify and Apple Music so you can quickly create a list of all your favorite TikTok videos. This will require an in-app purchase that will cost you $6.99.
3. Musixmatch
Can’t find this TikTok song on Shazam or SoundHound? While the odds of this happening are slim, there’s always a chance you’ll find a rare song. Maybe a local or folk song? Try Musixmatch. They claim to have the largest catalog of music lyrics you can search for on your phone. Enter a few phrases you hear on TikTok and search. You may need to try a few different phrases from the song you’re listening to before you see the right results. You can see multiple songs displayed. So, you’ll have to listen to each one before you find the one used.
Once you find the song used in the TikTok video, you can see the entire song, the title of the song, the artist and the album, and a way to translate the lyrics to a foreign language of your choice. You can also connect Musixmatch to your Spotify account to manage playlists.
Musixmatch has recently updated its app to put it on par with Shazam and other music recognition services. This means you can use it to find songs used in a TikTok video directly without having to type the lyrics. You can give it a try as they have a large library of lyrics and soundtracks. The pro version starts at $3.99 and offers access to more lyrics, remove ads, unlimited translations, and party mode.
Note: YouTube Music is also pretty good at identifying music tracks based on the lyrics you enter in the search bar. I’m not surprised to see how every song from all over the world hit the platform.
