Zoom is undoubtedly one of the most popular video communication tools lately (and we’ve published the ULTIMATE guide on it). You can also record your meetings and sessions, making it easy to revisit meeting details later. And unlike Skype, here the recordings do not disappear after 30 days.
Zoom also lets you save recordings of meetings and sessions to the Cloud, but this option is only available for Business and Education accounts. If you don’t have both, these recordings are stored on your Mac and your PC’s local Drive.
Well, let’s learn how to view and edit Zoom recordings on both Mac and PC.
How to Find Zoom Recordings on Mac and PC
The good thing about Zoom is that the app interface is almost similar for both Mac and Windows PC.
Stage 1: Open Settings by tapping the Gear icon in the upper right corner.
Click on recording and you will see the local recording location.
Click Open and the Zoom folder on your PC or Mac will open immediately.
Step 2: The folder name is prefixed with the date, followed by the host’s name and the Meeting ID. Double click the icon and you will see the audio and video files.
By default, recordings are automatically stored under the Documents folder.
- Windows — C:\Users\Username\Documents\Zoom
- macOS — /Users/Username/Documents/Zoom
You can change that location. To do this, click Change or the drop-down menu and select a folder from the list.
However, if you want to save recordings in project-related folders every time you record a meeting, the best option is to enable the ‘Choose a location for …’ option.
This allows you to choose a different location each time you need to save a file, thus saving you time in the long run.
How to Edit Zoom Recordings on Windows 10 PC
Since we’re talking about local records here, editing them is a breeze. No need to bother with uploading these records to random third-party servers. Instead, they can be edited within the secure confines of your PC.
If you want to do something as simple as trimming the start and end point or splitting clips in half, Microsoft Photos Video Editor lets you do it all.
Editing with it is an easy task. What makes the deal even sweeter is the Speed, Text, Filters etc. features are included.
Follow the steps below to edit the zoom recording.
Stage 1: Click the Add icon at the top and select the record you want to edit. Alternatively, you can drag and drop videos directly. Once done, select the video and click the three dots button at the top.
Select the Embed in filmstrip option from the menu.
step 2: After doing that, select your preferred option. In my case, I chose to go with Trim.
Click Crop and drag the Start and End markers according to your preference. At this point you can also add text, motion or some interesting filters.
Simply click on the relevant icons above; You will see the options on the side of your screen.
For example, if you want to add a specific snippet of text to appear in a specific part of the video, add the text and then drag the markers to the point you want.
Click Done after replacing the entire video.
Pro Tip: You can even add a Title card to the video to make it look more polished. If you want to share this video, this feature will come in handy.
Stage 3: If you’re happy with the overall look and feel of the video, click the End Video button in the far right corner, give the video a name, and that’s it.
And yes, you can also choose the final video quality. For now, Microsoft Video Editor lets you choose between High (1080p), Medium (720p), and Low (540p).
It is worth noting that the original video will not be changed.

How to Edit Zoom Recordings on Mac
Similarly, you wouldn’t need a professional-grade video editor for this job on Mac. Instead, simple apps like iMovie will do the job just fine. Unlike the Windows tool, iMovie has a sleek and simple interface.
Stage 1: After starting iMovie, tap the Plus icon at the top to create a new project.
Step 2: To access the zoom recordings, you need to import them manually. You will also need to grant folder permissions.
To do this, go to the folder where the recordings were saved.
Stage 3: After importing the video, you will see all the options like Transition, Background and Audio in the top menu.
To cut a movie, drag the handles and trim the part you don’t need.
Similarly, to add titles and text, click the option above and choose the style you want. When done, place it on the timeline and modify as needed.
The good thing about iMovie is that you don’t need to manually save the movie/video recording. Click on the Export button at the top and select the required option to create the file.
Pro Tip: Use the spacebar to play and pause the video while editing.
