How To Enable The New Gmail UI Right Now

Google has started rolling out its new Gmail user interface with new features like a brand new material view, custom tasks pane, integrations with apps like Keep, and a new incognito mode. Google is rolling out changes gradually; so if you want to try it right now, here’s how you can do it in your personal account or G Suite account.

Enable New Gmail UI in Personal Gmail Account

To activate the new Gmail user interface in your personal account, simply follow these steps:

  • Login to your Gmail account, and click on the ‘gear icon’ in the top right corner of your mailbox.
  • Here you will see an option that says ‘Try the new Gmail.‘ Click on it and you will be taken to the new Gmail UI.

If you want to go back to the regular old Gmail client, you can always click the gear icon and then ‘Return to classic Gmail’ to revert to the old UI.

Enable New Gmail UI in G Suite Account

To enable the new Gmail UI for your G Suite Account, you must ask your administrator to enable it in the Admin Console. If you are an administrator, you can follow the steps below:

  • Go to Admin Console and under the ‘New Gmail Early Adopter Program’ setting, change the selection to “.Allow my users to access the new Gmail UI and features.

  • After doing this, users in your G Suite installation can click the gear icon in their mailbox and click “Try the new Gmail” to test the brand new user interface.
