The Apple Translate app got some new features in iOS 15. One such notable addition is the automatic translation mode. This means you no longer need to interact with the screen to have your part of speech translated in real time. In this quick guide, we will show you how to enable Auto Translate mode in Apple Translate app in iOS 15 on iPhone.

It’s worth noting that the voice translation feature has been available in the Apple Translate app since it was made available in iOS 14. So even if you are on the previous version of iOS, you can speak a sentence and have it translated into your preferred language. The stock translation app listens to both languages and translates between them in real-time in Conversation mode. Therefore, you can comfortably talk to someone who speaks another language.
However, iOS 14 users had to tap the microphone button before speaking in Conversation mode. The person you were speaking to had to do the same to get their part of the speech translated. But thanks to the Auto Translate feature introduced in the Apple Translate app in iOS 15, neither of you need to touch the microphone button. Or, for that matter, no one needs to interact with the iPhone’s screen before moving forward. Thus, you will now be able to chat with everyone more comfortably.
However, here’s how to enable Automatic Translation in the native Apple Translate app:
1. To get started, Apple Translate app on your iPhone.
2. Now make sure to select your preferred translation languages for your speech. I chose English (UK) -> Italian. After this, conversation tab from the bottom navigation bar.
3. Next, tap on it. three three-dot icon in the lower right corner of the screen. From the drop-down menu that appears, Auto Translate choice. If it is enabled, you will see a checkmark next to it.
This much! You will no longer need to interact with the screen when using talk mode. So you can chat freely like a normal chat in the real world.
