If you’re an Instagram enthusiast, you know all about the exciting new features introduced in the last few years. From adding multiple photos to Instagram Stories to accessing DMs on PC – and much more. But unfortunately the app doesn’t give us much choice when it comes to downloading your old Instagram posts (and videos). There is no other way but to take a quick screenshot. While this method may work for photos, it fails when it comes to video. Fortunately, this is not the end of the road for us.
There are several third-party apps that allow you to download Instagram photos and videos directly to your computer, such as 4K Stogram. You can also download and access high-quality photos, videos and stories from your favorite Instagram accounts. Yeah, that awesome beach photo you saw the other day? You can now make a copy and save it in your notebook.
Apart from that, 4K Stogram packs a few interesting features. So, if you want to view your old Instagram posts on your computer, here’s how it can help.

How to Download Instagram Photos and Videos on PC
4K Stogram offers a clean and seamless interface that is easy to navigate. Besides Instagram user accounts, you can also access Hashtags and Locations for your search. You can also browse photos and videos of those you follow if you log in using your personal ID.
Again, we reiterate that downloading someone else’s photos and videos without their express permission falls into a difficult field that could be considered unethical or even characterized as stalking.
Stage 1: You will need to choose an output folder before proceeding with the actual download. The tool automatically creates a folder inside the Pictures folder. However, I recommend keeping the media items in a different place for better file organization.
Click Tools > Preferences to switch from the default folder.
Select the new folder and hit the Move button.
Step 2: Next, enter the Instagram account name in the search bar. When you do, you will see all the relevant names in the box. Just choose what you need.
Stage 3: After that, click on the Settings icon to access the Advanced Download Options. As you can see from the screenshot below, you will be able to customize the downloads according to your preference.
If you want photos from a specific time period, enter the Start Date and End Date and select Download photo posts from the menu.
Now all you have to do is hit the Subscribe button. The status of the download will be displayed right next to the account. If you want to pause that process, click the Sync icon.
Cool Tip: Click on Show details (three-dot menu) to see all downloaded media within the app.
Depending on your selection criteria, the download time will vary. For example, if you chose to download both photos and videos without specifying dates, the download time will be significantly longer.
The best part is that 4K Stogram automatically separates posts by type. That means you won’t have Instagram stories rubbing shoulders with a photo or video inside folders.
To see the folder contents directly, click the three-dot button and select Show folder.
How to Take a Backup of Your Instagram Account?
4K Stogram also allows you to take a backup of your Instagram account. Of course, you will need to log in using your Instagram credentials so that the app can access your account.
After logging in, click Edit > Subscribe > My Account and the app will do the rest.

How to Copy Captions from Old Instagram Posts
4K Stogram allows you to download media items from Instagram as well as copy captions from your old posts and videos. So, if you’ve recently discovered an old photo with an interesting title, all you have to do is tap on the three-dot menu as shown in the screenshot below.
Once complete, select More > Copy subtitle and it will be copied to your computer’s clipboard.
This feature is useful for old photos and videos if you want to save them with a description or reuse some for work. You can copy content directly from Instagram, but constantly scrolling to reach old posts can be a time-wasting exercise.
Additional Interesting Features
As mentioned earlier, 4K Stogram also lets you subscribe to Hashtags and Locations. For example, to see photos of your favorite city, simply type the city name in the search bar and subscribe. The app will do the rest of the job of creating a photo collection.
The same goes for Hashtags.
To always see the newest items at the top, make sure to select Newest to Oldest when sorting.
Instagram Downloads Made Easy
This is how you can easily save Instagram photos and videos directly to your computer. The best part is that 4K Stogram also allows you to take a backup of your account. And the ability to download high-quality is the cherry on the top.
The free version of 4K Stogram comes with some limitations. For example, in the free version you can only subscribe to two accounts and download up to 200 photos per day.
All limitations are removed when you upgrade to paid versions. The personal license is available for $9.95 and allows you to subscribe to up to 10 accounts.
