The Awakening Black Ops 3 DLC is finally here, and there’s a new way to download new Black Ops 3 maps. Unlike traditional download options for DLC on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, the maps are already on your console or PC. This short guide will show you how to download Awakening Black Ops DLC on your Xbox One, PC or PS4.
First you need to install the March Black Ops 3 update on your Xbox One, PC or PS4. This includes the map files you need as well as a number of fixes. It’s based on the February Black Ops 3 update, which originally put maps on your console.
You will need to make sure you have the 1.07 update installed before trying to play the Awakening DLC maps or Zombies content.
Although Treyarch and Activision have included the Awakening DLC maps and Zombies content in the March update, you must purchase the Awakening DLC for $14.99 or the Black Ops 3 Season Pass for $49.99 to play these maps.

The maps are technically already installed, so you have to activate the Awakening DLC once installed, which can be confusing for some players.
How to Download Awakening DLC on Xbox One, PC and PS4
The first thing you need to do is download the March Black Ops 3 update on your Xbox One, PC or PS4. This file looks huge at over 9GB, but you are downloading an additional portion of the file.
The first time you start your Xbox One or PS4, it should start downloading the Black Ops 3 update, but if the game won’t open it will force the download to start. You can see the progress in the Notifications area on your console.
Once this is complete, even if you have purchased the Awakening Black Ops 3 DLC or Season Pass, you still need to activate it.
To do this, open Black Ops 3 on your Xbox One and go to the Store section from the main menu. Select Map Packs on the left side of the screen.
If prompted, you may need to go to the Xbox Store or Steam and click download to download a very small file.
With all the new maps, the Xbox One Awakening Black Ops 3 DLC size is smaller than expected.
Once this is done you should be able to select the Awakening Map Pack in the Map Pack section and see it available.
Once all this is done you should start to see DLC maps appearing alternately across all Black Ops 3 online playlists. If you need to check that it is loaded, you can start a custom game and select the DLC section to use the new maps in offline mode. This also lets you explore maps and find the best places to run, slide and ambush others.

If you’re having trouble seeing the Awakening DLC in the Call of Duty store inside Black Ops 3, you should try restarting the app. Go to the home screen, press the menu button and then select Exit. If that fails, you should try restarting your console.
