Snapchat is one of the most innovative companies on the market. It constantly updates its app, including new features we’ve never seen before. It feels like Snapchat is rolling out a new feature every week. Just a few days ago, Snapchat introduced another feature called Snap Map. The basic idea of the feature is that you can see your friends on an interactive map and vice versa. Additionally, you can see Snapshots of popular events such as sporting events, breaking news, and more happening around the world.
In Snapchat’s words, the feature was introduced so that people can not only see what their friends are doing, but join them if they want. But a lot of people are crazy right now, including you. Everyone can see where you are, making the app a stalker’s paradise. Well, not entirely, the Snap Map feature is optional and you can choose to disable it. So, if you’re a little worried about being tracked, Here is how to disable Snap Map feature in Snapchat on Android and iOS:
Disable Snap Map via Snapchat Settings
1. Access Snap Map Settings
Accessing the settings menu of your Snap Map is very easy. When you start the application, Pinch the camera viewfinder to enter the Snap Map mode. While there, you can zoom in on the map to see trends around the world. Tap on it to access the settings. settings icon top right as seen in the picture.
2. Choose Who Can See Your Location
On the Snap Map settings page, you can set your preferences for who can see you on the map. By default the “My Friends” option will be selected, which means all your Snapchat friends will be able to see you on the Snap Map. Here you can also choose which of your friends can access your location if you wish. To do this, just Tap “Select Friends” and choose the friends you want to share your location with with.
If you do not want to allow anyone to access your location, Activate “Ghost Mode”. Now no one will be able to access your location and see you on the Snap Map.
Disabling Snapchat’s Location Permission
The above steps will prevent any of your friends, or anyone else for that matter, from accessing your location. However, this does not prevent Snapchat from accessing your location data. If your biggest concern is privacy, you should disable the location permissions granted to Snapchat from your phone’s internal settings. But remember, once you do this you won’t be able to use any of Snapchat’s geofilters.
To do this on Android, go to: Settings->Location->Snapchat->App permissions and disable access to Location permission.
iPhone users should go to the Settings page and scroll down until they find Snapchat. Tap on it and then select Location->Never. That’s it, it’s that easy.

Stop Showing Yourself on Snap Map
