Apple introduced Siri Shortcuts with iOS 12 in 2018 and they’ve come a long way since then. Actually, back to iOS 14 where people used Shortcuts and iPhone widgets to create amazing home screen customizations on iPhones. However, one of the problems with Siri Shortcuts and automations is the annoying little notification that pops up every time the automation runs. Fortunately, there is an easy fix. Here’s how to disable Siri Shortcuts notifications on iPhone.
Disable Notifications for Siri Shortcuts in iOS 14.3
Even though Apple fixed the issue where the Siri Shortcut app would launch every time you run a shortcut, the automations still show a notification when they run. This isn’t a problem in itself, but it doesn’t sound very ‘magical’ when it does. Also, you can’t disable notifications for Siri Shortcuts like you can for any other app on iOS.
However, there is a way to circumvent the issue and disable notifications for Shortcuts completely and we will discuss how to do that here.
How to Disable Siri Shortcuts Notifications on iPhone
Note: To use this method, you need to make sure that Siri Shortcuts is already showing you notifications. If not, create an automation and run it to get a notification and then follow how to do it.
- Go to Settings -> Screen Time. Here, tap on ‘See All Activity’.
- At the top, you’ll see options to view activity by week or by daily averages. Tap on ‘Week’.
- Scroll down to the notification section and tap the bar for the current day. In this example, it’s Tuesday.
- Tap ‘Show More’ then tap ‘Shortcuts’.
Note: Sometimes the Shortcuts option cannot be touched. In that case, just go back to the week view and then the daily averages again and it should now be touchable.
- Disable the ‘Allow Notifications’ toggle.
That’s it, now you can run any of your automations on your iPhone and you won’t see any notifications from the Shortcuts app. However, note that currently this only removes automation notifications. If you’re using Siri Shortcuts to launch apps with custom icons, you’ll still see a banner indicating the Shortcut is working.
Unfortunately, there is currently no way to remove or disable this notification. Hopefully Apple will make some more changes to Shortcuts and allow users to disable these notifications as well. When that happens (we hope), we’ll definitely update this article to reflect the change.
Use Siri Shortcuts Without Annoying Notifications
There’s a reason Apple wants to show notifications when an automation runs. So much so that if an automation works, you will know what it is and why. This is great if you’re testing automations and don’t want to be blinded by your iPhone wallpaper suddenly changing. Or something similar that might seem ugly at first glance.
