How to Disable Pre-Installed Apps on Galaxy S9

In this guide, we will show you how to get rid of pre-installed apps on your Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9+. Out of the box, your phone has loads of apps that carriers add before you buy it. We call it bloatware and it wastes a lot of valuable space on phones. Samsung is famous for this, but they are not the only ones.

We’re talking about NASCAR apps from Sprint, AT&T WiFi, AT&T App Select, Amazon, Lookout, Hancom Office, and random apps from T-Mobile and Verizon. Most phones sold by carriers in the United States are packed with apps you’ll probably never use.

There is a problem with all this bloatware, you cannot remove it. Not without rooting your phone (Jailbreak for Android) and a few tricks. However, you can disable them and hide most of them from the app tray to clean your device. Basically out of sight, out of mind. Here is how to get rid of all pre-installed apps on your Galaxy S9.

This is because if you disable anything and everything, you can quickly cause Galaxy S9 problems. Some apps may look like bloatware but are required for the phone to work. Basically, be careful and don’t “disable” it.

This program added 8 games and apps to my Galaxy S9+ overnight. You’ve probably experienced something similar and didn’t know why. This will download more apps to your phone each month. To stop it, simply disable it.

Other details

We’re all done. You have successfully disabled a number of apps that came pre-installed on your Galaxy S9. They still take up space, but they won’t receive updates and you won’t see them in the app tray. Your phone is now clean. You can also apply the same steps to any app you need at a later date. Our steps above are not permanent and you can reinstate any app you want.

In closing, we would like to mention one more time to be careful in this process. It’s easy to accidentally disable the wrong app and cause problems on your new phone.
