When it comes to hardware, there’s no doubt that Xiaomi smartphones offer great value for money. But if you look at the software experience, MIUI seems to have taken a step back in terms of user experience. And it’s largely due to ads, bloatware, and push notifications. Not so long ago, MIUI was Xiaomi’s strong suit as it brought many useful features that Android lacks. However, in the last few years Xiaomi has brought ads to MIUI and since then the company has shoved them down the user’s throat. Having said that, there is a way out and you can remove most of the ads from your Xiaomi device. Without further delay, let’s find out how to disable ads, bloatware and push notifications in MIUI 11.

1. Block Push Notifications in MIUI 11
Before we move on to ads and bloatware, let’s disable push notifications in MIUI 11. At this point, push notifications and other native apps through the default web browser have become quite annoying they constantly send notifications of inappropriate content and irrelevant ads to your device. So, before we go too far, let’s fix the notifications.
1. Whenever you are warned by an irrelevant notification, do not ignore it at first glance. In its place, long tap the notification and disable the toggle and then tap on “Done”. This is the fastest and easiest way to block push notifications on MIUI 11 from a particular app.
2. However, if you want to review all apps and disable notifications one by one then open “Settings” and go to “Notifications” menu. Here you can easily disable notifications for all apps. For the browser, GetApps, Dailyhunt and Mi Video, I recommend disabling the notifications that constantly send push notifications.
2. Disable Ads in System Apps and Settings in MIUI 11
Here we will learn how to disable ads from system applications such as Mi Video, Browser, File Manager and others in MIUI 11. Xiaomi promised to bring a one-click button to disable all system ads, but as of now, the feature did not come in MIUI 11. Until then, we need to disable ads from individual app settings.
1. First of all, open Settings and go to “Passwords & Security”. Here, turn on “Authorization and revocation” and disable the “msa” toggle. ms. MIUI stands for System Advertisements and is responsible for collecting data and delivering advertisements on Xiaomi smartphones. It won’t disable on the first few tries, so Try 4-5 times and msa will be closed successfully.
2. After doing that, now open the apps that bother you with ads one by one and turn off the suggestions. For example, if you are using Xiaomi’s Mi Browser, open the Browser app and go to Settings. Here, Open the “Privacy and Security” menu and then disable “Personalized services”. This much.
3. Similarly, to disable ads on Mi Video, open the app and go to “Settings”. Here, Turn off “Online suggestions” and “Push notifications”. This way you can disable ads for every app in MIUI 11.
4. To give you another example, open the local File Manager app and go to the “Settings” page. Here go to “About” and disable the “Suggestions” toggle. Basically, the pass will be hidden inside Additional settings or Security or About or anything along similar lines. All you have to do is find the suggestion toggle at the bottom of any menu and disable it.
5. Then disable the lock screen ads that Xiaomi releases as the “Wallpaper Carousel” feature. Open Settings -> Lock Screen -> Wallpaper Loop -> Disable the “Open Wallpaper Loop” toggle. This much.
6. Finally, you can: disable personalized ad suggestions if you do not want your device to monitor your habits and browsing behavior. Settings -> Password & Security -> Privacy -> Scroll down and turn on “Ad Services”. Here, disable the toggle and you’re done.
3. Remove Bloatware from MIUI 11
While this is all about disabling ads and push notifications from many native apps in MIUI 11, If you want to get rid of these apps completely, you can’t.. In fact, Xiaomi has even removed the option to disable these apps found in previous versions of MIUI. Like many other OEMs, Xiaomi comes with Facebook services and various other analytics tools in the background. From a privacy standpoint this has disastrous consequences as you are no longer in control of your data.
For example, even if you delete the Facebook app, it may remain active in the background and collect your data without your consent. On the top of it, you cannot disable these background services at all. To give another example, if you use the Cleaner feature in the Security app, the filenames and location data from the internal storage are sent to Cheetah Mobile, a company that has been ad fraudulent in the past and has been banned from the Play Store. by Google. There are several shady packages installed in the background that have access to many system privileges. Note: Do not uninstall the Security app as it is a core app of MIUI. Doing so will boot your device.
