Samsung’s new Galaxy Note 5 is the latest device on the shelves, and many users will need to know how to do certain things. This quick guide will explain how to clear or delete your Galaxy Note 5 browser history from prying eyes.
The new Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ are very secure smartphones with many features including a fingerprint scanner built into the home button for enhanced security. However, this may not be enough. Browser history or form data is something many users will want to clear and delete. There are many different reasons why a user might want to delete their internet browser or search history on a smartphone and we are sure you have reasons so here we will explain how to do this on the new Note 5.
Most Android smartphones have multiple browsers; this means that users need to clear or delete the history of the browser they use most often. Samsung Note 5 has its own browser called “Internet” but by default most users will continue to use Google Chrome. In conclusion, while clearing Samsung’s Internet browser history is almost exactly the same, we’ll focus on Chrome in this how-to section. Read on to find out how.
Users logged into a Google account, all of which we assume are when you use Android, every website viewed or searched will be saved and remembered. This is as long as you don’t completely turn off your history or use an incognito tab or incognito browser, which we’ll talk about again below.
Below we will explain how to clear browser history on the Samsung Galaxy Note 5. It’s worth noting that this doesn’t clear Google Search history, because that’s something completely different. Clearing the history can be necessary for a number of reasons. This may be related to typical privacy concerns, so children or important persons can’t see what’s been purchased on Amazon for their birthday or enter for other reasons. Instructions
As we mentioned above, the Note 5 has two browsers out of the box, but here we will focus on Google Chrome as everyone is using or should be using it. The same steps essentially apply to the “Internet Application”, but labeled slightly differently but located in the same spot.
Open Google Chrome and you will see three dots in the top nav bar, tap this as this is the settings button. .
Shown above are the steps that a user must take to access the browser history on the Galaxy Note 5. We have two options from here. One thing I love about Google Chrome is that users can press X one at a time during each viewing session. This means you can delete a specific search or website visit instead of doing everything at once. This ensures that it doesn’t look like a user is trying to hide their tracks.
Simply tap the X on each one; they disappear and are completely deleted from the browser history forever. However, there is a much better method that clears everything at once. At the bottom, tap on the “Clear Browsing Data” option which will open a popup with a few options.
Don’t clean everything in here as this can cause problems and more problems than good. Most Note 5 owners will want to leave three boxes checked, that’s all. These are Browsing history, Cache and Cookies. If you tick Saved Passwords and Autofill data instead of website login information and anything else you set to be remembered, it will be deleted. It’s nice to go to Amazon.com and have the Note 5 remember my login, but if you select the last two boxes, they will all be cleared as well.
Select the one that works best for you by ticking each box, then hit “Clear” and it will delete everything. Depending on how often you do this, it may take a few seconds or up to a few minutes before it completes.
Samsung’s “Internet” browser is a little more difficult. Press More > Settings > Privacy > Erase Personal Data > and select the same boxes as Chrome.
Incognito Mode
Something called incognito mode, this mode will prevent any of this from being an issue at startup, as users won’t log anything while browsing the web. Press the “More” or 3-dots button at the top in both browsers and open an Incognito Browser Tab. During this session, the browser does not remember or save any history, password, login or monitor what you are doing. This is the safest way and is something many users should consider.
There are several browsers in the Play Store that do this by default and will not remember any user data. Dolphin Zero It’s a good one, and Opera Browser has a browser-wide privacy mode that can be easily enabled in settings. I’d stick with the stock browser or Chrome, but everyone likes something different and Android has a lot to choose from.
